03-29-3015 Announcements

IN YOUR DAILY PRAYERS this week please remember Gillas Stern and his family as they mourn the death of his sister.  Ruth (nee Stern) Simonsen died in the Lord last Sunday at age 96; her husband (Clarence) resides in Menno.  Also, and as always, please pray for all who are recovering from surgery and illness, those in cancer treatment programs, our shut-in and inactive members, and at least 2 family members or friends in your life who do not yet know Christ.

2015 LENTEN CHALLEnGE RECAP – Per a request that all of the Challenge Verses be given out one more time, this year’s 6 memory verses are:

1st week of Lent  à  Genesis 1:1
2nd week of Lent  à  Joel 2:32a
3rd week of Lent  à  Psalm 27:4a
4th week of Lent  à  John 3:16
5th week of Lent  à  Lamentations 3:23b
     6th week of Lent (today)  à  I Cor. 6:14

2015 LENTEN CHALLENGE – The verse for the 6th week of Lent is I Corinthians 6:14.  Today is the 6th Sunday in Lent (also known as Palm Sunday!); therefore, according to the rules for our 2015 Lenten Challenge, any time after today and before next Sunday you may recite all 6 of the weekly Lenten Challenge verses privately to the Pastor to be eligible for your award.  To schedule a time to meet with him you may call him at 999-5591 or send him an e-mail at splcpastor@gmail.com.

ALTAR FLOWERS – Our altar flowers today were given in loving memory of Ruth Simonsen (a sister of Gillas Stern).  Thank you, Gillas and Garnet!

Bazaar: Our annual church Bazaar will be Thursday, November 5th. We would like to have a couple more people that would be willing to be on the “planning committee”, if you would like to help us please talk to Sharon Pfeiffer. Thanks.

THRIVENT DEADLINE – Don’t forget about directing your Thrivent Choice Dollars.  Eligible Thrivent Financial members have until March 31st to direct any remaining 2014 Choice Dollars.  Call (800) 847-4836 if you have any questions or contact any of our St. Paul Thrivent representatives.
 
DISTRICT CONVENTION OFFERING – Through April 12th we will be accepting a freewill offering for the upcoming District LCMS convention to help support Lutheran education in South Dakota.  Please see the bulletin insert for additional information.
 
Easter Lily Reminder – For those of you who are planning to purchase an Easter lily for our altar on Easter Sunday and would like the person’s name in the bulletin for whom the flowers are given in memory of, please let us know as soon as possible but not later than Wednesday, April 1st.  Thank you.
 
Holy Week Worship Services – Our Maundy Thursday and Good Friday worship services will begin at 7:00 p.m.  Please take advantage of this opportunity to worship with us during these last 2 Lenten services!  The Sacrament of The Lord’s Supper will be observed on Maundy Thursday.  We will offer 2 services again this year on Easter Sunday.  The sunrise service will begin at 7:30 and the late service will begin at the usual time of 9:30.

LADIES AID will meet on April 1st at 7:00 pm with Ella and Elsie Hein as Hostesses.  The  Bible Study will be Session 10 – The Good Samaritan followed  by the Business Meeting.  On Altar Guild for April is Mildred Siekmann and Phyllis Knittel is Visiting Helper.

THE MELCHER SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE is asking for donations to the scholarship fund because the interest rates are so low.  If you wish to donate to the scholarship fund, please place an envelope with “scholarship” written on the outside in the offering plate.  Donations need to be made by the last Sunday in April. Thank you.

03-22-2015 Announcements


IN YOUR DAILY PRAYERS this week please remember Richard Salis as he recovers in the Freeman Hospital from pneumonia, Gerhard Schamber as he transitions to Oakview Nursing Home, Heather VanMeveren as she recuperates at home after a week in the hospital because of a large blood clot in her neck and all others who are recovering from surgery and illness, those in cancer treatment programs, our shut-in and inactive members, and at least 2 family members or friends in your life who do not yet know Christ.

Main Street Living – March 22nd – The featured speaker is Rev. Nabil Nour Redeemer Lutheran Church in Armour.  The program is interpreted for the hearing impaired.

2015 LENTEN CHALLEnGE – The verse for the 5th week of Lent is Lamentations 3:23b.

Midweek Lenten ServicesThis Wednesday will be the last of our 6 Lenten midweek services on the theme “The Passion According to St. Matthew.  A soup and sandwich supper will be offered beginning at 5:45; the service will begin at 7:00 p.m.  Please join us for worship!

Main Street Living – March 15th – The featured speaker is Rev. Thomas Brown Zion Lutheran Church in Mitchell.  The program is interpreted for the hearing impaired.

THE LORD’S SUPPER at St. Paul Lutheran Church is administered in accordance with the Holy Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions.  It is celebrated in the confidence that we receive – in, with and under the consecrated bread and wine – our Savior’s true Body and Blood for the forgiveness of our sins.  All who commune at this altar are making this public confession of the faith that we believe and teach as is written in the Holy Scriptures.  If you are not a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and yet desire to receive the Sacrament, please speak with the Pastor before the worship service.

MENTOR/MENTEE GROUP is meeting tonight @ 7:30 p.m. to plan some group activities to do this Spring.  There will be snacks and games too.

YOUTH GROUP
will meet tonight March 15th at 6:30 p.m. Please note the time change.

VOLUNTEER NEEDED: We need someone who is willing to put flowers on the Altar during the month of July. Please talk to Sharon Pfeiffer if you are willing to do this or if you have any questions of what needs to be done. Thanks

DARTBALL ANNOUNCEMENT:  Last Sunday the St.Paul/Freeman dartball team won “FIRST PLACE” at the Mitchell Zone Tournament.  CONGRATULATE TEAM MEMBERS:
Dean Dreessen, Bob Pidde, Harvey Dannenbring, Keith Anderson, Matt Dannenbring, Marvin Dannenbring, Jesse Thomas, Bryce Dannenbring, & Rev. Weeman.  And SPECIAL THANKS to all who prepared food and to our youth group & counselors for serving the lunch/refreshments.
