05-01-2016 Announcements

IN YOUR PRAYERS - this week please remember those who are recovering from surgery and illness, those in cancer treatment programs, our shut-in and inactive members, and at least 2 family members or friends in your life who do not yet know Christ.

LADIES AID will meet on May 5th at 7:00 with Joan Dreessen as Hostess.  The Bible Study will be The Story of Angels followed by the Business meeting.  On Altar Guild for May is Ella and Elsie Hein and Visiting Helper is June Schamber. 

MAIN STREET LIVING - Rev. Matthew Wurm of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Brookings, SD delivers today’s message “You, Me, and Judas” based on Acts 1:16-19. The selected hymns: Jesus Christ is Risen Today; Jesus, Thy Blood and Righteousness; and Now Thank We All Our God, will be led by the Main Street Living Choir. The program is interpreted and closed captioned for the hearing impaired.

SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS - The last day of Sunday School classes will be on Sunday May 15th.  Our annual Sundae Sunday will be held on Sunday May 22nd right before the special Bible Study led by Pastor Sailer.

CONGREGATIONAL CHALLENGE - The 6th, 7th and 8th grade Sunday school class would like to do an outreach project for the food pantry at Bethany Mennonite Church.  They would like to challenge the congregation to bring shampoo, toilet paper, paper towels, men's and women's deodorant, and Kleenex.   Paper products are in high demand.  Something positive coming from St. Paul would be a good thing.  We would like to do it for the month of May.

MAIN STREET LIVING:   May 1st, Rev Kory Janneke of Faith Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD, brings today’s sermon “We Shall Overcome” based on John 16:33.  The program is interpreted and closed captioned for the hearing impaired.

04-17-2016 Announcements

MAIN STREE LIVING -  Rev. David Morfitt of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls delivers today”s message “God’s Great Good Grip”, based on John 10:27-29.. The program is interpreted and closed captioned for the hearing impaired.

WE WELCOME Reverend Scott and Mrs. Sailer this morning as he preaches and then, after worship, leads us in the first of a two-part Bible Study in preparation for eventually issuing a call for a new pastor here at St. Paul.

THE KING AND HIS QUEEN -  A special two-part Bible study will be presented by District President, Rev. Scott Sailer, on Sunday, April 17, and Sunday, May 22, during the Sunday School and Bible Study hour.  It is about the special relationship our Lord (King Jesus!) has with us, the Church (His Queen!).   Oh, how He loves us and wants us to respond to His saving love by worshiping Him and serving others.   The discussion will include where the Pastor fits into the King’s plan for serving the Queen.  This study will help prepare our congregation for our relationship and service with a new pastor someday!

ATTENTION YOUTH GROUP - Meeting Today  4:30-6:30 p.m. in the youth group room.  National Youth Gathering Bible Study, NYG Information and Packets handed out,  Game and Supper. 

MIDWEEK SCHOOL – There will NOT be any Midweek School classes on Thursday, April 21st.

THE MELCHER SCHOLARSHIP committee has begun accepting applications for its 2016 awards. Applications have been mailed to all high school seniors.  Anyone else who desires an application should contact Joan Dreessen or Karen Pidde. Eligible applicants are members of St. Paul Lutheran Church who are high school seniors or college students. Completed forms may be returned to Joan or Karen on or before the April 24, 2016 deadline.

MAIN STREE LIVING -  April 10, The Executive Secretary of the South Dakota District LCMS, Rev. Darren Olson delivers todays message titled “Surprise”, based on Acts 9:1-22. The Main Street Living choir will perform the hymns: The Day of Resurrection; Lord, Take My Hand and Lead Me; and Children of the Heavenly Father. The program is interpreted and closed captioned for the hearing impaired.

LADIES AID will meet on April 7th at 7:00 pm with Mildred Siekmann as Hostess.  Bible Study “The Story of Angels will be led by Pastor Weeman followed by the business meeting.  Mildred Siekmann is on Altar Guild for April and Visiting Helper is Phyllis Knittel

LWML - will meet Thursday April 14th. at 2:00 p.m. at the home of Lee Lagendyk.

LAWN MOWING  The trustees are taking bids for mowing the lawn at the chuch and parsonage this summer.  If you would like to put in a bid to mow the lawn this summer please contact Jesse Thomas at 925-7713 home or 605-359-8741 cell number. Thank you.

THANKS - to everyone who has volunteered to work one or more days at Schmeckfest, April 15, 16, 22 and 23!  Forty jobs need to be filled yet, mostly in the areas of table serving, table clearing and washing dishes.  If you are willing to work or know someone who would be interested in helping, please contact Debra Schmeichel, 648-3430.
