12- 27-09 Announcements

WEEKDAY SCHOOL & CONFIRMATION: Pleaese take note there will be no weekday school or confirmation this week.

FLOWERS: Thank you to Debbie Soulek family for the flowers on the altar last week and this morning.

SHED WORK: January 1st and 2nd are days scheduled to work on the shed starting at 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. If you have time to help out with this project please talk to Mark or Scott.

UPCOMING MEETINGS: Edlers meeting is on the calandar for January 6th at 7:00 p.m. Church Council meeting for January 13th at 7:00 p.m.

LADIES AID coffee hour for January 3rd are Clarice Haar, Ella and Elsie Hein. Altar Guild for the month of January is Garnet Stern, and visiting helper is Gerry Saner. Darlene Schrag will be hostess for the January 7th meeting at 7:30 p.m.

CHRISTMAS CHEER: Last week the Ladies Aid Visiting Committee delivered “Christmas Cheer” in the form of a personal visit, a Christmas card, and a bud vase containing a red carnation & evergreens to the following members Bernice Graber, Erna Bittner, Albert Koehn, Max Schamber, Helen Schamber, Clara Baer, Leone Haar, Mahala Peterson, Mabel Haar, Verna Herrboldt, Lavonne Knittel, Lorna Langle, Lorraine Wipf, Dorothea Albrecht, Pauline Walz, Winfred Haar, Leanne Albrecht, Delphine Laber, Pat Saarie, Irene Kleinsasser, Gerhard/Darlene Schamber, Bernard/Marie Wrenn, Floyd/Alice Fliginger, Berneita Langle, Lucille Rembold, and Joann Schmidt. A Christmas card and balloons were taken to Michael Mors and family and a Christmas card was sent to Altha Mayer in Yankton and Olinda Stark in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

If anyone has bud vases they no longer need can you bring them to the church kitchen and mark them for the visiting committee, because we will start saving the vases for our next year deliveries. Thank you very much.

SURVEY BOX: There is a box located in fellowship hall for you to return your surveys. Please have them returned by next Sunday, December 27th. Thank you.

LADIES AID will be taking donations for matching funds Christmas project for Main Street Living. Collection basket will be in fellowship hall for the next few Sundays.

ELDERS will be handing out a congregational survey for our call process after the service. If you did not receive one last week, please pickup one up today and return to Brian by December 27th. If anyone has a name to nominate to the call list please contact Brian.

THANK YOU to Grace Gering for playing her harp this morning. The selections she will be playing are, "Whisper A Prayer" and "Still, Still, Still."

LADIES AID CHRISTMAS party will be this afternoon at 3:30 p.m. All ladies and guest are welcomed. Please bring a white elephant for exchange. All members are asked to bring Christmas cookies or other goodies. Altar Guild for the month of December is Lee and Visiting helper is the Visiting Committee.

SUNDAY SCHOOL will be taking a Special Offering during the Christmas Season of new KIDS WINTER-WARE ITEMS such as gloves, scarves, hats, boots, mittens, socks and so on. Anyone that would like to help out with this project is welcomed to do so. We ask that all items be brought and placed on or under the Christmas Tree in the church entrance before Christmas Eve. Thank you for your help and support.

All items will be distributed along with a Bible verse through the Freeman Food Pantry and/or Yankton Mission Project. We hope that many local families are touched by the warmth of God this winter by this project.

2 Corinthians 9:7 Each one should give what he had decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

CALL MEETING: There will be a call meeting this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. This is the first step in calling a Pastor. Please try to attend this very important meeting.

LADIES AID CHRISTMAS PARTY will be next Sunday, December 6th at 3:30 p.m. All ladies and guest are welcomed. Please bring a white elephant gift for exchange. All members are asked to bring Christmas cookies or other goodies. Altar Guild for the month of December is Lee and visiting help is the Visiting Committee.

NEW ORGAN: During coffee hour this morning, we will be taking a special offering to raise money for the new organ. There is about $7500 left to raise and if all goes as planned the organ should be here by the middle of December and installed by Christmas.

A VERY SPECIAL thank you to Pastor Ellis for helping us out the past few weeks!!

AFTER CHURCH service this evening, Brian will be giving the congregation an update on our vacancy pastor at coffee hour.

LADIES AID will meet for a short meeting after church service this evening.

THERE will be a call meeting on December 3rd at 7:00 p.m. This is the first step in calling a new Pastor. Please keep this date open as all members are encouraged to attend.

PASTOR KRAMER will be our vacancy Pastor starting next Sunday, November 22nd. Services will be back to Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m.
Other details will be worked out soon.

BAZAAR COMMITTEE wishes to thank everyone that helped out at the bazaar and also to everyone that brought food for the lunch counter, items brought for the crafts, stitchery booth and for the country store.
The amount raised this year was $5398.76. Thank-you for all your generous support.

Main Street Living is a Lutheran Television Program that is endorsed by The South Dakota District of The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. The program is financially supported through the support of the viewers and congregations of the viewing area.
Broadcast each Sunday on KDLT-NBC, Sioux Falls, at 10 AM Central time, and KEVN-FOX, Rapid City, at 9 AM Mountain Time.
The first portion of the program is a children's program, Kid's Crossing. This program airs for the first 30 minutes of the Main Street Living hour.
November 15th, 2009 Kid's Crossing looks at the greatest commandment - love God with all your heart and mind and soul.
The featured speaker is Rev. Nathan Henschen from St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Leola, SD, and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Ipswich, SD. The sermon theme is ?Pessimist, Optimist, or Christian?? The hymns are Today Your Mercy Calls Us; Amazing Grace; and How firm a Foundation. The Main Street Living Choir will provide the hymns. The program is interpreted for the hearing impaired.

November 7th, Announcements

LISA LUKE BENEFIT will take place tomorrow (Sunday) from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Parker Community Building-main street. Free will offering at the door. Any questions please contact Jason or Connie Luke.

LWML will meet November 19th and 7:30 p.m. Lee has the topic and Gerry will serve lunch.

THANK-YOU from the Bazaar Committee to each of you that helped make our Bazaar another successful event. All of your donations, hard work, and the support you showed us by attending was greatly appreciated. Also if you have a food container in the kitchen, please pick it up at your earliest convenience. Thanks.

November 5th Bazaar: Plan to attend our annual Bazaar on November 5th from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. We will again have a Country Store, Stitchery/Craft Booth & the Lunch Counter. We would like to thank everyone that has volunteered to bring food & work, if you would like to help us in anyway & have not been contacted please call one of the committee members. We would appreciate if you could cool or refrigerate your food before you bring it to the church. Also if you have frozen your food, please bring it to the church thawed out. We have posted the food list on the bulletin board in the fellowship hall & on the refrigerator in the kitchen if you want to check what you have volunteered to bring. See you November 5th for a day of good food & fellowship.

Bazaar Setup and Cleaning: We will be setting up for the Bazaar and cleaning the kitchen on Sunday, November 1st starting at 1:00 p.m. We would appreciate if you would come and help us with this project, the more workers the less time it should take. We also need some men to help us with the tables and chairs. Thanks

ANNOUNCEMENTS

HOLY COMMUNION: Because partaking of Holy Communion in a church-body is a profession that you agree with the doctrines of that particular church-body, visitors and guests who are not currently members of another congregation of The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod are kindly asked to please make an appointment to visit with the pastor before taking communion here. For more information you may consult the Christian Questions with Their Answers on pages 329-330 of LSB Hymnal, as well as the following passages from Holy Scripture - Matthew 5:23f.; 10:32f.; 18:15-35; 26:26-29; 1 Corinthians 11:17-34.

POTLUCK: We will be honoring the Pautz family with a farewell card shower & potluck lunch on Sunday Oct. 25th at 11:45 a.m. in the fellowship hall. All are welcome. Dessert, dishes & drinks will be provided.

Coffee hour will be held after church service with only coffee and juice provided. There will also be a Voters’ Assembly held in the sanctuary following church service.
