PSST!  DID YOU NOTICE?  Pastor didn’t say the Lord’s Prayer last Sunday!  Yep, I did that.  As you may know, I come from an every-communion Sunday practice.  This was so that people who had suffered trauma, or conflicting work schedules, or had other things keeping them from the Sunday services (Satan, the world, and our sinful nature works hard to keep us away), and when they fought to finally make it to worship services for the first time in a while, desiring the Divine comfort from the precious body and blood of our Lord…that they could receive it.  While it was offered each Sunday, it was not required to receive it every Sunday.  So, when I get here, I am out of practice ending the Divine Service in this way and quite frankly, I forgot.  The good news is that you pray it daily, but I will try to do better, or move to a different service out of the hymnal on non-communion Sundays rather than one of the Divine Services.  Oh, and if I forget again, we’ll just start the service all over again (grin…not).- Pastor Makelin

DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN CHRIST:

As you are by now aware, our circuit will be celebrating the 500tth anniversary of the Reformation with a special service at Trinity, rural Hartford, on Sunday, October 29, 2017.  Jean Nour and I are coordinating and planning the music, which we hope will include a circuit-wide choir.  This is an invitation for anyone who wishes to raise their voice in praise to join the choir.

There will be two rehearsals: Sunday, September 24, 2:30 – 4:00PM  Saturday, October 14, 6:30 – 8:00PM

Both rehearsals will be at Trinity, Hartford.  I know Saturday night is not an optimum rehearsal time, but I have concerts every Sunday in October, and I know Friday nights are big sports nights, so Saturday was left.  We can live with a Saturday evening rehearsal once in 500 years!

The schedule for October 29 will be warm-up at 2:45 and service at 4:00.

If you are willing to be part of the choir, please contact Jean Nour (jeanmarienour@gmail.com) or me (bowsconbrio@triotel.net) right away.  Time is short, and I’ll get music out if at all possible so that you are not sight-reading at the first rehearsal.  Please let Jean or me know no later than September 14, and the earlier, the better.

THANKS BE TO GOD for the saints of St. Paul Freeman and for members of the community for their hospitality, from the signs and groceries found when we arrived in the parsonage, to the people who brought something by to the house to say hello, to those who gave and sent cards, and to those nice welcomes we received from those we meet in the community as we acquaint ourselves with Freeman.  We are humbly thankful.  You surely bear the fruit of your vocations (see Romans 12:13) - Pastor and Mary Makelin
