3-20-2011 Announcements

IN OUR DAILY PRAYERS this week, we pray for Doris Albrecht, Mabel Haar, and June Roth (who have all been admitted to the hospital), Leann Albrecht and her family, and Richard Salis as well as for our shut-in members, our inactive members and for at least two people in your life who don’t know Christ.

LENTEN SEASON SOUP AND SANDWICH SUPPERS will be served from 5:45 thru 6:45.

THANK YOU to everyone who helped our family celebrates my 80th birthday. Your cards and well wishes were much appreciated and made it a day to remember. Thank you also for your prayers for my health problems this past year. God bless you all. Roman Miller

MENTOR/MENTEES will meet next Sunday at 7:00 p.m.

FROM MAY 24TH UNTIL AUGUST 15th, 2011 Sarah Ruml will be in Wisconsin Dells living, working, studying the Bible, and ministering with several other college students from the Upper Midwest. Before leaving for the Dells, Sarah needs to raise $2,400 for the training program fee, room and board. She is asking God to surround her with a team of people who will each pray for and financially contribute anywhere from $25 to $500. LOOKING FOR WOMEN interested in forming a new church group. This group hopes to focus on helpful projects to benefit others by doing positive and effective Christian acts of kindness. A meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 30th after the Lenten Service {about 8 pm} in the Fellowship Hall. Questions may be directed to LaNae Harberts, Diane Schnabel or Kristi Dannenbring.

MIDWEEK LENTEN SERVICES this year as well as our Holy Week services will focus on the “I AM” statements of Jesus in which we will see the divinity of Christ and the lengths to which He goes for our eternal salvation. This Wednesday’s sermon will focus on His statement: “I AM the Good Shepherd.” All services will begin at 7:00 p.m. Please mark your calendars and PLEASE join us for worship! P.S.: Don’t forget to bring a friend!

LAWN MOWING BIDS: If you are interested in mowing the church lawn and parsonage lawn, please submit your bid to Scott Ruml, Craig Graber or Morgan Klenisasser.

40-DAY BIBLE READING PLAN – Those of you who are participating in our challenge to read or listen to the New Testament during this year’s 40 days of Lent (from Ash Wednesday thru Holy Saturday, excluding Sundays) should have just finished Chapter 9 of the Gospel of Luke. If you are ahead of schedule, that’s wonderful! (‘wunderbar’ auf Deutsch!) If you are not quite there yet, then try some of the ‘getting-back-on-schedule’ alternatives we discussed or feel free to talk to the Pastor. For those of you who are reading the New Testament to our shut-in members, thank you for your service in His Kingdom; God’s blessings be multiplied unto you!

March 27, 2011 Kid's Crossing join Krista K as she visits a greenhouse to talk with a florist that grows Easter Lilies.
The featured speaker Rev. Nathan Henschen from St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Leola, SD and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Ipswich, SD. The sermon theme is "Christ Died For Sinners." The hymns are Come Unto Me, Ye Weary; Amazing Grace; and My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less. The Main Street Living Choir will provide the hymns. The program is interpreted for the hearing impaired.

The 34th Biennial LWML Convention will be held June 23rd - 26th in Peoria, Ill. The topic is “Being with Jesus – Living on the Edge.” Complete information is in the Winter Quarterly.

3-6-2011 Announcements

PASTOR IS ON VACATION thru Tuesday. Pastor Bob Moeller will be leading our worship service and adult Bible study class today and will be on call thru Tuesday for pastoral emergencies. You may reach him at 605-321-1641. You may also contact any of our elders for assistance.

LWML will meet after Lenten Service Wednesday evening. Topic will be led by Lee and Gerry will serve lunch.

COFFEE HOUR: If there is anyone who would like to be in one of the coffee hour groups, please speak with Diane.

FREE NEW TESTAMENT CDs – For those people who were not here last week, CDs for our Lenten season challenge to listen to the New Testament between Ash Wednesday and Easter will be available after today’s worship service along with a schedule for you to track your progress if you wish. The CDs and schedule will also be available in the library throughout the Lenten season. We also have available an abbreviated “Kidz Bible” version for our younger members. If you would like to have an extra CD to give to a friend or family member, that is encouraged as well. These CDs are yours to keep and use as often as you like. If you have questions on how to use them or have trouble getting yours to work, please contact any elder, Kristi Dannenbring (660-4139) or the pastor (999-5591) for help. In just 28 minutes per day for the 40 days of Lent you can listen to the entire New Testament. Everyone is encouraged to participate and hear the Bible come alive!
