01/27/2013 Announcements


IN OUR DAILY PRAYERS this week please pray for all who need or have asked for our prayers as well as our members in cancer treatment programs, our shut-in and inactive members, and at least 2 family members or friends in your life who do not yet know Christ.

ANNUAL VOTERS’ MEETING NOTICE – Our annual voters’ meeting will be held today in the Fellowship Hall right after the worship service.

OUR 2013 CHURCH OFFICERS will be installed during next week’s worship service.

A VOLUNTEER is needed to put flowers on the Altar during the month of July; if you are willing to do this please talk to Corrine Handel or Sharon Pfeiffer. Thank you.

LADIES AID will meet on February 7th at 7:00. We will be be studying Lesson 9 – “Stress Less” followed by the Business Meeting.  Hostess for the evening is Susan Borglum.  Sharon Pfeiffer is on Altar Guild and  Millie Gunderson is Visiting Helper for February. 

LENTEN SEASON SOUP AND SANDWICH SUPPERS are being scheduled.  The first one will be on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 13th.  If any person, family or group would like to volunteer to do one of the Wednesday soup suppers, please contact the Pastor as soon as possible.  Thanks!

MOVIE NIGHT at St. Paul this Sunday evening, at 7 p.m.  Ever judge someone just by looking at them?  We’ve all made snap judgments about people.  But what if we really got to know them?  Would our opinion change?  If we were forced to become them, how would the shoes fit then?  Come see “A Walk In My Shoes.”  Bring your favorite beverage.  Popcorn and fellowship will be provided.

YOUTH GROUP AND MENTOR/MENTEE will have a shot meeting on February 3 11:00 a.m.  Please plan to attend so we can discuses some fine details about the Valentine Supper that is coming up. There will be no meeting on this night so please attend, thanks.

ANNUAL REPORT – Thank you to those that have gotten me their reports still have some missing.  Please get them to Aleta or Pastor so the annual report can get finished, thank you.

SAMARTAIN GROUP will meet Sunday, Feb. 3rd, right after the church service.  We will be discussing upcoming projects.

The VA HOSPITAL ADDRESS for those who wish to visit or send a card to Myron Schaffer is:  Veterans Administration Hospital, Room 204, 2501 West 22nd Street, Sioux Falls, SD 57105.

VALENTINE SUPPER will be held on February 16, 2013.  If you would like to sign up for a time please see one of the youth or leaders to get the time you would like.  There will be someone after the next three church services that will take your name and time you would like to come.  Please plan to attend for a good meal and good fellowship

RIDE THE BUS! – Winter weather is here so don’t forget that you can take advantage of Freeman’s bus service.  They will pick you up at your home in Freeman and drop you off at the church.  To return, they can pick you up either right after worship or after Sunday School.  All you have to do is call 661-6545 by at least 6:00 the prior Saturday evening and give them your address.  For our church’s members, please do not pay the driver directly.  Our church will pay the $3.00 round-trip fee for you.  If you wish to make a contribution to help pay for the bus system, please put your donation in our offering plate and designate it accordingly.  We will see to it that the funds are sent to where they are to go.

IN OUR DAILY PRAYERS this week please remember Julie Huber and Rev. Weeman (who are recovering at home), Myron Schaffer (who is recovering in the VA hospital from leg amputation surgery), Rev. Nour [Redeemer, Armour] (who is hospitalized while recovering from heart surgery) and Wesley Olesen (in the Heart Hospital).  We also remember in our prayers our many members in cancer treatment programs, our shut-in and inactive members, and at least 2 family members or friends in your life who do not yet know Christ.

PLEASE PRAYERFULLY CONSIDER using your God-given gifts and talents in service to Him and His church.  At our voters’ meeting next week we will need various offices and positions filled.  Please contact Chairman of the Congregation (Randy Koerner), either elder (Brian Knittel or Paul Wynia) or the Pastor if you are willing to have your name placed on the ballot.  Thanks!

BALLOT OPENINGS – We still have several open positions on next week’s ballot for our 2013 elections.  Please prayerfully consider helping the church by filling these positions.  Many thanks go out to Jesse Thomas and Matt Stern who are willing to run for the open Trustee position as well as to Karen Bender and Bob Pidde who have agreed to have their names on the ballot for the Board of Evangelism.

COUNCIL MEETING – There will be a supplemental council meeting in the sanctuary immediately after church today to discuss additional items not addressed at our Wednesday meeting.

NO CONFIRMATION CLASS this Wednesday (Jan. 23rd).

Nour (Redeemer, Armour) who will undergo heart surgery on Jan. 16th.  We also remember in our prayers our many members who are not feeling well but are not hospitalized (including Lee Lagendyk who fell and hurt herself), those in cancer treatment programs, our shut-in and inactive members, and at least 2 family members or friends in your life who do not yet know Christ.

DUANE THOMAS’ ENTRANCE INTO GLORY – We pray for peace and comfort for the family of Duane Thomas who was summoned home to heaven by his Lord on Monday, Dec. 31st.  We give thanks to our Lord for His loving-kindness and for all of the mercies granted to Duane during his earthly life, especially for calling him to faith in Jesus Christ through Holy Baptism.  The funeral was held Jan. 4th.

THANK YOU so much to everyone who gave us cards and gifts this Christmas season.  Truly your goodness is a witness to all.  We pray that God would continue to bestow His blessings upon every one of you.  Hosannas forever!  (s) Susan, Pastor and family

12-30-2012 Announcements


IN OUR DAILY PRAYERS this week we remember 8-year-old Cole Nelson (who has brain cancer) and his family, LaNae Harberts (whose father passed away last week) and her family, all others in need of our prayers, our shut-in and inactive members, and at least 2 people in your life who do not yet know Christ.

NEW YEAR’S EVE worship service will not be held this year.  However, we still encourage everyone to do their personal evening devotions, remembering that no matter what personal difficulties we will face next year, no matter what decisions we will have to make and no matter the times of uncertainty or anxiety in our lives, Jesus Christ … “who is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Heb. 13:8) … will be there to strengthen us, help us, comfort us and guide us.  Only God knows what 2013 will bring but whatever may happen, one thing remains the same:  Jesus Christ, who is “our God, our help in ages past, our hope for years to come, our shelter from the stormy blast and our eternal home” (LSB 733 Verse 1).

CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS in the church will be taken down on Friday, January 4th, beginning at 6:00 pm.  If you have the time, would you please help us get the decorations and Christmas trees put back into storage?  Many hands will make light work!  Thank you in advance for your assistance!

We want to send A BIG THANK YOU to all God’s “angels” here on earth that contributed to our Christmas Mission Tree.  Your generosity was amazing and heaven-sent for those in need.  We collected 2 coats, 4 scarves, 23 blankets, 38 undergarments, 47 hats, 63 pairs of gloves and 103 pairs of socks.  Thank you so much for your participation and as well as for sharing the spirit of giving.  May God bless your Christmas!  (s) The Board of Ed
