4-24-2011 Announcements

CHRIST IS RISEN! HE IS RISEN, INDEED! ALLELUIA! This Sunday those 8 words are God’s words of truth which offer salvation to all and they are words which guarantee eternal life to all who believe. May you, by God’s grace, be given a faith which says, “Christ is risen and I am saved!” Amen.

IN OUR DAILY PRAYERS this week we pray for Doris Albrecht (in the hospital), for Kenny Handel June Roth, Richard Salis and Leann Albrecht (all recuperating at home), for the Walfred Heckenlaible family as they mourn the loss of Coppy’s presence among us as well as for our shut-in members, our inactive members and for at least two people in your life who don’t know Christ.

WALFRED HECKENLAIBLE’S ENTRANCE INTO GLORY – We pray for comfort for the family of Coppy Heckenlaible whom God called to his eternal rest on Sunday, Feb. 17th. We give thanks to our Lord for His loving-kindness and for all of the mercies granted to Coppy during his earthly life, especially for calling him to faith in Jesus Christ through Holy Baptism. We pray that God would comfort all who mourn with the hope of the glorious resurrection of the body and a happy reunion in heaven, and that He would sustain the family with the knowledge that all who remain faithful will be given the crown of eternal life and will be in our Lord’s presence forevermore. Coppy’s funeral will be Tuesday, April 26th at 10:30.

CONFIRMATION SUNDAY this year will be next Sunday. Please join us in welcoming our 8 confirmands into communicant membership: Brianna Orcutt, Cole Paulson, Cailey Roth, Cody Roth, Josh Roth, Brian Schamber, Kendra Schamber and Travis Schnabel. A reception for them will follow the worship service.

LADIES: Remember next Sunday, May 1st, is the Mother-Daughter potluck beginning at 6:00 p.m. BRING YOUR GUEST AND SPECIAL APRON.

PHONE PRAYER MINISTRY – If you wish to be a member of our telephone prayer chain or if you have a prayer request, please contact Garnett Stern at 925-7298 or the Pastor at 925-7333. Your prayer request may either be specific or general in nature; names or other personal information need not be given.

e-PRAYER MINISTRY – If you wish to be a member of our e-mail prayer chain or if you have a prayer request, please contact Diane Schnabel at 660-2911 or the Pastor at 925-7333. You may also send either of them an e-mail. Our e-Prayer Ministry is in addition to our telephone prayer chain.

SUMMER CAMP – We have received the information regarding Camp Minneboji’s 2011 summer camp schedule. Registration forms for Camp Week (June 19-25) are available here at the church or on-line at www.minneboji.com. The camp, for kids in Grades 4 thru 9, features Bible study, mission presentations, music, crafts, sports, recreation and the chance to meet new Christian friends. This year’s theme is “Angels.” The registration deadline is June 1st. If you are interested, please contact the Pastor for more information or check out their website.

FREEWILL OFFERINGS for the “Faith Comes By Hearing” Bible CD program will be taken after today’s worship services. As you recall, the CDs were provided to us at no cost. In appreciation and assistance to that organization for their work, and in response to our Lord’s command that we do what we can to spread the Gospel message while there is still time, we agreed to take a special offering to help them continue their Bible CD production operations. We note that they just released CDs in 13 more languages that are spoken by about 7.4 million people. Their goal is to produce CDs in 2,000 languages by the year 2016; these 2,000 languages cover 97% of the world’s population. It costs them about $950 to produce each of the 27 books of the New Testament in each language; thus, it costs almost $26,000 to produce the whole New Testament in any given language. Whatever financial help you can provide will be greatly appreciated and will be put to good use! Thank you!

MAYO CLINIC APPOINTMENTS – Anyone receiving medical care at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester is invited to contact the TLCare ministry of Trinity Lutheran Church of Rochester. They are willing and able to serve you with prayer support, a homemade meal, a visit from one of their caring members, free parking, a comfortable apartment to live in (not more than 3 weeks at a time, please) and more. First come, first served. For additional details and to inform Trinity of your medical visit, e-mail Jennifer at jen@trinitylutheranchurch.org or call her at (507) 289-1531.

BIBLE STUDY CLASSES are available at different times on different days. We encourage you to please find the time to study your Bible – either at home during your personal daily devotions or you may attend any of our on-going classes. Feel free to just sit in and listen, if you wish. You are welcome to attend even if you haven’t been able to attend classes in the past or if we happen to be in the middle of a topic. It’s never too late to learn more about our faith and our Savior! We are currently studying “Heaven and Hell” in our Sunday morning class, “The Great Divide” (an introduction to the Muslim religion) in our Tuesday evening class and the “Parables of Jesus” in our Wednesday morning men’s breakfast class.

MAY 24TH UNTIL AUGUST 15th, 2011 Sarah Ruml will be in Wisconsin Dells living, working, studying the Bible, and ministering with several other college students from the Upper Midwest. Before leaving for the Dells, Sarah needs to raise $2,400 for the training program fee, room and board. She is asking God to surround her with a team of people who will each pray for and financially contribute anywhere from $25 to $500. If you are interested or would like more information please contact Scott or Susan Ruml (605-925-7004) or Sarah (605-660-5330) or sarah.ruml@jacks.sdstate.edu). Also refer to the bulletin/message board for an extended letter explaining more about what Sarah is doing this summer. Thank you!
