06-19-2011 Announcements

IN OUR DAILY PRAYERS this week we pray for Doris Albrecht and Richard Salis as they continue their cancer treatments, Olinda Stark under hospice care, Zac Sayler with his broken arm and Mary Glynn as she continues taking care of her sister and elderly mother. We also pray for our shut-in members, our inactive members and at least two people in our lives who don’t know Christ.

COMMUNION DISTRIBUTION procedures will change slightly this week. In consideration of those who have difficulty walking up and down the steps to the altar we will distribute the Communion elements at the front of the sanctuary. You may come forward when directed to do so by the ushers, forming a single line down the center aisle. Both the common cup and individual cups will still be available. After receiving the Lord’s Supper, please return to your pew via the side aisle on your side of the sanctuary. We will commune one side of the sanctuary at a time. There will be one blessing and dismissal at the end after everyone has communed. Please give your comments on this trial procedure to any elder (Gary Pfeiffer, Scott Stern and Paul Wynia).

THE SAMARITAN GROUP will meet Wednesday, June 29th, at 6:30 p.m. at church. New members are always welcome!

BIRTHDAY OPEN HOUSE – In honor of Pauline Walz’s 100th birthday, the Walz family wishes to invite our church family to an open house celebration at Geo’s next Sunday, June 26th from 2 to 4 p.m.

SUMMER SUNDAY SCHOOL for children from pre-school thru 7th grade will be held next Sunday, June 26th, after the service. We will meet in the confirmation room upstairs.

2011 CONFIRMATION PICTURES taken by Penny Smidt are now available. Please contact her at 925-4292 if you would like a set. Please note that the pictures are available in electronic format only.

MAIN STREET LIVING – June 19th Kid’s Crossing emphasizes that we are all precious in the eyes of God. The featured speaker is Rev. Kelly Smith from Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron, SD. His sermon theme is “The Trinity and Creation.” The hymns are Glory be to God the Father, God Has Spoken by His People, and Holy, Holy, Holy. The Main Street Living Choir will provide the hymns; the program is interpreted for the hearing impaired.

Main Street Living may be seen each Sunday morning on KDLT-NBC Sioux Falls at 10:00 a.m. Their mailing address is: Main Street Living, 1400 So. Duluth Ave., Sioux Falls, SD 57105. The program may be viewed on the web at www.mainstreetliving.com. Viewers, area churches and memorial gifts provide the support for the program.

THE BIBLE ON TRIAL will be broadcast on KDLT-TV on June 19th and 26th at 11:00 a.m. following Main Street Living. This program is sponsored by the South Dakota LWML and LLL. Biblical criticism, ancient historical voices, the illumination of archaeology, the testimony of first-century followers of Jesus Christ – all these come to bear on the examination of the reliability of the Scriptures in “The Bible On Trial: Beyond A Reasonable Doubt.”
