04/22/2012 Announcements

IN OUR DAILY PRAYERS this week please remember all who need our prayers whether it be for medical issues, for family and friends who have wandered away from the church, for families in distress, for those in mourning or any other need. As always, please also say a prayer for our shut-in and inactive members, and for at least two people in your life who do not know Christ.

BEFORE LEAVING the sanctuary, please find one person whom you don’t know or don’t know very well, introduce yourself and have a brief chat with them.

THE SAMARITAN GROUP will meet today during coffee hour.

MOTHER DAUGHTER POTLUCK BANQUET will be held Sunday May 6th at 6:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend, bring a friend and enjoy the fellowship and good food! Bring a hot dish, salad or dessert to share. Beverages will be provided.

QUARTERLY VOTERS’ MEETING NOTICE – Our Spring voters’ meeting will be held next Sunday, April 29th, at 11:00 in the Fellowship Hall.

MISSION SUPPORT OPPORTUNITY -- From June 12th until July 27th, 2012 Sarah Ruml will be serving in a Midwestern city with a large Muslim population. Here she will be immersed in the Middle Eastern culture in this city, building bridges and establishing common ground between two diverse cultures and beliefs. During this short-term trip, she will teach English as a second language and work to build relationships with the people in this community. The cost of the trip including transportation, food, and lodging will be $2000, which she needs to raise before May 15th. She is asking God to surround her with a team of people who will each pray for and financially contribute anywhere from $25 to $500. WEEKDAY SCHOOL: there will be no Weekday School on Wednesday, April 25th, but confirmation will still be held.

UPCOMING LWML EVENTS: April 28th-- Spring Christian Life Workshop at St. John, Tyndall. "Images of Christ" program will be led by Pastor Dean Schroeder. Pastor Dean Redhage will speak on the Malaria Initiative thru Lutheran Relief. Registration is at 9:00 a.m., the opening is at 9:30 a.m.
SD District convention is in Watertown on June 1st and 2nd –The convention theme is "Listen, Laugh, Love". Registration is due May 4th. More information on these items is posted on bulletin board in Fellowship Hall. Women of the congregation are invited to attend.

SECRETARY POSITION IS OPEN to share duties with Aleta. If you are interested in the position, please talk to one of the elders: Scott Stern, Paul Wynia or Brian Knittel.

MAIN STREET LIVING –April 29--On Kid’s Crossing, Krista K interviews Martin Luther and learns how he came to translate the Bible into German from the Latin. The featured speaker is Rev. San Needham from Concordia Lutheran Church in Vermillion, SD. The sermon theme is “The Good Shepherd.” The hymns are “Christ is our Cornerstone;” “The King of Love My Shepherd;” and “All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name.” The Main Street Living Choir will provide the hymns. MSL may be seen each Sunday morning at 10:00 on KDLT-NBC. The program may be viewed on the web at www.mainstreetliving.com.

THE LUTHERAN HOUR – April 29--The sermon theme is "Not All Paths" by Speaker Emeritus of The Lutheran Hour Rev. Dr. Ken Klaus.
Counterfeit dollars are without much value. They are deceptive and disappointing. The same could be said of futile, false faiths.
