07-13-2014 Announcements

IN YOUR DAILY PRAYERS this week please remember Myron Schaffer as he recovers at home from his surgery, Arden Stern who has been moved to a swing-bed in the Freeman hospital, those in cancer treatment programs as well as our shut-in and inactive members, and at least 2 family members or friends in your life who do not yet know Christ.

THE LORD’S SUPPER at St. Paul Lutheran Church is administered in accordance with the Holy Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions.  It is celebrated in the confidence that we receive – in, with and under the consecrated bread and wine – our Savior’s true Body and Blood for the forgiveness of our sins.  All who commune at this altar are making this public confession of the faith that we believe and teach as is written in the Holy Scriptures.  If you are not a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and yet desire to receive the Sacrament, please speak with the Pastor before the worship service.

Main Street Living – July 6th – The featured speaker is Rev. Luke Edwards Holy Cross Lutheran in Oneida, Trinity Lutheran in Blunt and Immanuel Lutheran in Harrold.  His sermon theme will be “Come to Me.”  The program is interpreted for the hearing impaired

VBS 2014 will be from July 21st through July 25th for 3-year-olds through 6th grade youth.  Supper will begin at 5:30; we will wrap up each night about 8:15.  Please sign up on the bulletin board.  If you have any questions, please call Amber at 925-7132 or any member of the Board of Education.  Thanks!

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED to assist with Vacation Bible School.  We need 8 or more volunteers to help with the various activities and age groups.  Please sign up on the bulletin board or talk to Amber, Kristi, Maria or Lisa.  Thank you.

QUARTERLY VOTERS’ MEETING NOTICE – Our Summer voters’ meeting will be held July 27th in the Fellowship Hall right after the worship service.

DISASTER RELIEF RESPONSE – Both our synod and our district have responded to the recent storms and tornadoes that have hit the Midwest.  To learn about the LCMS Disaster Response, visit www.lcms.org/disaster.  If you wish to make a donation, please make your check payable to “LCMS Disaster Relief” and mail it to P.O. Box 66861, St. Louis, MO 63166-6861.  Our district has some SD information on their website at www.sddlcms.org.  In addition, because of the significant needs, our district has established a Wessington Springs Disaster Fund.  If you wish to make a donation to this fund, please make your check payable to the fund and mail it to P.O. Box 89110, Sioux Falls, SD 57106-9110.

A THANK YOU letter from The Banquet was received this week.  It’s posted on the bulletin board if you wish to read it.  The letter also gives some statistics on the number of meals they serve and to whom, the number of backpacks distributed, etc.  They now have 2 locations from which they operate

PRESCHOOL TEACHER NEEDED – Zion Lutheran in Canistota needs a preschool teacher for the 2014-15 school year.  This is a paid position.  If possible, they would like to hire a teacher who has a degree in education or is working toward an education degree, and who has experience working with children.  If you are interested, please call the church at 296-3166 or e-mail them at zion_lutheran_church@hotmail.com.
