11-30-2014 Announcements


IN YOUR DAILY PRAYERS this week please remember Harlin and Joan Neuharth who are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary as well as those who are recovering from surgery and illness, those in cancer treatment programs as well as our shut-in and inactive members, and at least 2 family members or friends in your life who do not yet know Christ.

Main Street Living – Nov. 30th – The featured speaker is Rev. Kent Borglum of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Freeman.  The program is interpreted for the hearing impaired.

THANK YOU, REV. SESTAK, for leading us in worship today!  We sincerely appreciate your Christian service to our Lord, to His Church and to our congregation!

ADVENT DEVOTIONAL BOOKLETS (written by Lutheran Hour Ministries) will be distributed after today’s worship service.

AN OPEN HOUSE will be held in the fellowship hall this afternoon from 2 – 4 PM in honor of Harlin & Joan Neuharth’s 50th Wedding Anniversary.  The congregation is invited. No gifts please.

The flowers on the altar today are in honor of Harlin & Joan’s anniversary, given by their family. Congratulations on your 50 years and God’s blessings to you.

LADIES AID will meet for the business meeting after Advent Service Wednesday,  Dec. 3.  Members are asked to bring Christmas goodies to share.  Joan Dreessen is on Altar Guild for December    

ADVENT MIDWEEK SERVICES have been scheduled for this year.  We will gather at 7:00 p.m. on Dec. 3rd, Dec. 10th and Dec. 17th for worship.  At 5:45 p.m. (before each Wednesday’s service) we will also provide a soup and sandwich supper for all who wish to get together for a light meal.  The theme for this year’s Advent services will be “Women of Faith.”  Please plan to join us and please bring a friend or relative to share in this opportunity for worship and fellowship!

Advent SOUP-SUPPeRs – There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board for any person, family or group who would like to host one of our Advent Wednesday soup-suppers this year

REFORMATION OFFERING – The amount of the designated Reformation worship service offering was $504.00.

CHRISTMAS FUND – Through Dec. 28th we will be accepting freewill offerings to replenish our Christmas Fund.  These monies will be used to replace or repair our Advent and Christmas decorations, as needed, as well as to purchase the Children’s Christmas Program gift bag items.  The offering basket is on a table in the Fellowship Hall.

BAZAAR FOLLOW-UP – We want to thank everyone again who contributed in any way toward making our 50th annual bazaar a success!  We raised $6,472.80 after expenses this year.  (s) The Bazaar Committee

CHURCH DEDICATION – Martinus Lutheran Church in Utica will have the dedication service for their new church building this afternoon at 3:30, followed by a dinner.  Everyone is invited.  Additional information has been posted on the bulletin board.

SURVEY – Please take a few minutes to fill out and return your Church Survey.  We would like to have all of the surveys returned by Nov. 26th.  A report on the results will be given at the Annual Meeting in January.

BAZAAR EXPENSES:  As a Thrivent member I applied for a Thrivent Action Team $250.00 prepaid card to pay for the milk, orange drink, buns, and other supplies needed for the bazaar; it was approved, so this year the expenses were paid with that $250.00 card. Thanks, Sharon.

THE LORD’S SUPPER at St. Paul Lutheran Church is administered in accordance with the Holy Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions.  It is celebrated in the confidence that we receive – in, with and under the consecrated bread and wine – our Savior’s true Body and Blood for the forgiveness of our sins.  All who commune at this altar are making this public confession of the faith that we believe and teach as is written in the Holy Scriptures.  If you are not a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and yet desire to receive the Sacrament, please speak with the Pastor before the worship service.

CHRISTMAS PROGRAM PRACTICE:

Grades 3rd - 8th:  Nov 19th from  5-6:15 p.m.

Main Street Living – Nov. 2nd – The featured speaker is Rev. Scott Spiehs of St. John Lutheran Church in Wolsey, Zion Lutheran Church in Wessington Springs and Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Woonsocket.  The program is interpreted for the hearing impaired.

A Special Thank You to our multi-church Reformation choir members, Choir Director and Organist Elizabeth Soladay, Piano Accompanist Jane Kleinsasser, the Glorious Company Hand Bell Choir from St. Martin Lutheran Church, Virginia Heidelberger and the Old Farmhouse Café in Chester for our luncheon, Dillon Starner (our crucifer), Isabel Sayler (our acolyte) and, of course, to Rev. Dr. Paul Maier for being our guest pastor and Reformation seminar presenter.  We give thanks to God for all of you and everyone else who helped with our Reformation Festival!

CHRISTMAS PROGRAM PRACTICE (3RD - 8TH GRADE ONLY) 
WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 5TH 5-6 P.M.
We would like to meet with kids grades 3rd - 8th who are in the program. We will be introducing the content and songs but most importantly handing out parts.  Other practice times will be posted later in November.  Questions- contact Amber Sayler or Kristi Dannenbring 

Attend the 50th BAZAAR on November 6 starting at 10:30 am.  Julie Huber is on Altar Guild for November and Corrine Handel is Visiting Helper

PLAN TO ATTEND THE BAZAAR on November 6th from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  The times on the November calendar are incorrect.  We will again have a Country Store, Stitchery/Craft Booth and the Lunch Counter.  Thanks to all of you that have volunteered to work and/or bring food, this is greatly appreciated.  The food list and the work schedule are posted on the bulletin board in the fellowship hall and on the refrigerator in the kitchen.  As you can see we are short waitresses & kitchen helpers for the evening; if you are willing to help, tell one of the Bazaar Committee members or just show up & help us out. Thanks.

THRIVENT ANNUAL MEETING – We will be hosting this year’s annual meeting of Hutchinson County Chapter of Thrivent Insurance.  It will be held on Sunday, Nov. 9th at 6:00.  A catered meal will be served.  Please RSVP by Nov. 3rd to Romona Ulmer at 387-5451.

THE SAMARITAN GROUP will be sending out Solider Packages in November. If you have a family member, friend or someone you would like to receive a package please contact Diane Schnabel.
