09-27-2015 Announcements

IN OUR PRAYERS this week we remember Myrna Huber (in recovery at Oakview Terrace Nursing Home), the families of Verna Herrboldt and Carrie Kaus [Karen Pidde’s mother] (both of whom died on Sept. 24th) during their time of mourning, those who are recovering from surgery and illness, those in cancer treatment programs, our shut-in and inactive members, and at least 2 family members or friends in your life who do not yet know Christ.

Main Street Living – Sept. 27th – The featured speaker is Rev. Warren Uecker of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Madison.  The program is interpreted for the hearing impaired.

NEW ADDRESSES – Marie Wrenn is temporarily living with her son; her new address is:  c/o Jeff Wrenn, 3937 Douglas St., Sioux City, IA 51104-1443.  And Kermit Schrag’s new address is:  c/o Oakview Terrace Nursing Home, Room 215, P. O. Box 370, Freeman, SD 57029-0370.

ADULT BIBLE STUDY CLASSES will resume in the narthex after today’s worship service.  Everyone is welcome to join us for the study of God’s Word!  All materials will be provided.

THE BAZAAR COMMITTEE – has started making plans for the November 5th event, which will run from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Food donations are needed for chicken noodle soup, vegetable soup, chili soup, chicken sandwich meat, tavern, salads, pies, cake, pickles, crackers & coffee. We will also need workers for the day and evening shifts. This year we are planning to combine the Crafts/Stitchery & Baked/Canned items into one booth and then have the Lunch Counter. Please see or call Sharon Pfeiffer (925-7604), Kelli Broders (925-7502), or Penny Smidt (925-4292) if you are willing to donate food or work.

CHOIR REHEARSAL will begin today at 11:30.  All ages are welcome!

Main Street Living – Sept. 13th – The featured speaker is Rev. Kelly Smith of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Brookings.  The program is interpreted for the hearing impaired.

MEN’S BIBLE STUDY CLASSES will resume this Wednesday.  All guys are welcome to join us at 6:00 a.m. each Wednesday in our Fellowship Hall for a hot breakfast and the studying of God’s Word!  All materials will be provided.

BOE- Fifth and Sixth grade weekday school will start 09/16/15.
Cherie Knittel will teach this class from 7-8pm.
 
CONFIRMATION CLASSES will resume this Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
 
DELMER LIPELT’S ENTRANCE INTO GLORY – We pray for peace and comfort for the family of Delmer Lipelt whom God called home on July 5, 2013.  We pray that God would comfort all who mourn with the hope of the glorious resurrection of the body and a happy reunion in heaven, and that He would sustain the family with the knowledge that all who remain faithful will be given the crown of eternal life and will be in our Lord’s presence forevermore.  Delmer’s home-going service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19th at 10:30 with a luncheon following the committal service.  Funeral Group 3 will assist with this funeral instead of Group 2.

CHOIR REHEARSAL will begin next Sunday, Sept. 20th, at 11:30.  All ages are welcome!

18th ANNUAL BIKE FOR LIFE – Since 1997, the Southeastern SD Lutherans for Life have been leading a team of bikers on a 100-mile tour from Armour to Sioux Falls.  Their endeavor raises money for the Alpha Center to help pregnant women who don’t know what to do and give them alternatives to abortion.  Please see Karissa Podzimek for information on how you can help with this year’s ride on Saturday, Sept. 19th.  Saving babies one mile at a time!

WE WILL HOST THE LFL BIKERS for lunch at the Senior Citizens Center on Saturday, September 19th.  Please see the sign-up sheets in the fellowship hall.  We are looking for donations and also for workers.  Please bring your donation to the center at 10:30 on Saturday morning (19th) or have it at the church and it will be picked up.   See Karissa Podzimek for questions.

09-06-2015 Announcements

Main Street Living – Sept. 6th – The featured speaker is Rev. Ryan Drevlow of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls.  The program is interpreted for the hearing impaired.

LWML will meet on Thursday September 10th at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Pastor will lead Bible Study and Lee will serve lunch.

Installation of TeachersOur Sunday School and Midweek School teachers will be installed during our Sept. 13th worship service so all teachers should plan to be in church that day if at all possible.  Thanks!

THE BOE is having a Rally Day potluck the first day of SS
after Sunday School-Sept. 13, 2015.  Please plan to come
and bring something to share. Maybe group B would be willing to help with the potluck  since there wouldn't  need to be a coffee hour.

BOE- Fifth and Sixth grade weekday school will start 09/16/15.
