03-11-2018 Announcments

HOLY COMMUNION is celebrated in our worship service today.  What a joy and privilege!  In this Sacrament our Lord gives unto us not only bread and wine, but also His very body and blood to eat and drink.  In this Sacrament He assures us that our sins are forgiven and He strengthens our faith.  To our guests who desire to receive Holy Communion, we ask that you consider the following:  If you do not believe in Jesus as your Savior, do not believe in the Real Presence of the Sacrament, or have never received instruction on how to prepare yourself for Communion, you should refrain from receiving the Sacrament, but are encouraged to come to the altar for a blessing, indicated by folding the arms over the chest.  We do this not to offend, but to honor the faith we hold at St. Paul Lutheran.  If you have any questions regarding communion, please speak to the Pastor or an Elder before service begins.

IN YOUR PRAYERS - this week please remember those who are recovering from surgery and illness, those in cancer treatment programs, our shut-in and inactive members and at least 2 family members or friends in your life who do not know Christ as they could, that they would accept the invitation to come to Church with you to hear God's Word preached in its purity, and see the Sacraments rightly administered.

MAIN STREET LIVING –March 18:  Rev. Christopher McCarthy of First Lutheran in Wall, SD and Emmanuel Lutheran in Crieghton, SD, brings today’s message ”The Cup Which I Am to Drink” based on Mark 10: 35-45.

AMAZINGLY, yesterday was the six month anniversary of my installation here at St. Paul and I would like to thank you for all the gifts, and all that you have done, and continue to do, for Mary and I.  We are truly blessed by more than what we deserve.

In the last six months, I have made small inroads into meeting with all of you on Tuesday evenings in your homes and will continue to work on this over the years.  Remember, you can tell me that you don't wish me to visit.  I will not be offended.  Conversely, if you have a time you want me to come or have issues you wish to discuss, please don't wait for me to call, but you contact me either by text, email, or phone, and we can set up a time and place to meet. – Pastor

THE CIRCUIT WINKEL (gathering of pastors in the circuit) happens every month.  Pastor's families also sometimes attend for the worship (the rare time when they can commune together) and their own fellowship.  This month the Winkel is hosted by St. Paul Freeman, on Thursday, March 15th, at 9:30am to about 4:00pm.  The Freeman circuit pastors will gather in the morning, commune together, then study until noon, followed by lunch, with more study and discussion in the afternoon.  If you wish to help serve a morning snack and/or lunch, please contact Gerry Saner who has graciously agreed to serve. "For truly, I say to you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ will by no means lose his reward, Mark 9:41" -  Pastor

Now Jesus[a] was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.” And he said to them, “When you pray, say... (Luke 11:1-2a)  The Lord's Prayer (sometimes called the Our Father) is the third chief part of Luther's Small and Large Catechism and it is both the antidote and immunization for life in our spiritual warfare on this earth.  Come, grab a friend and join us for the Lenten Midweek services as we dig deep into this great gift from Son of God every Wednesday at 7:00 until Holy Week.  - Pastor Makelin
