THE PASTORS IN THE FREEMAN CIRCUIT AND OTHERS, led by Pastor Peter Kurowski, are putting together a devotion book, Better Than Twenty-Twenty Vision. Peter says of this resource, “The book strives to be winsome, Christ-centered, Word and Sacrament-oriented, touching on hot button issues, and providing "aha" moments of joy.  It is a labor of love and a didactic devotional book that will inspire, inform, and enlighten the saints about the goodness and greatness of God in Christ.  So many people today, especially our young, are facing a world engulfed in nihilism. Better Than Twenty-Twenty Vision offers high hope rooted in resurrection realities.”

BOXED CHRISTMAS CARDS will be sold the next couple Sundays during Coffee Hour on a cash and carry bases.  Limited selection and while supplies lasts only.

WE WILL BE SINGING CHRISTMAS HYMNS during Communion in December (since the resurrection gifts of the day of our Lord in the Sacrament of the Altar supersedes the penitential church seasons anyway) and, since the Christmas season is so short that it is difficult to sing all those great Christmas hymns in our hymnal, it has been decided that we will offer Holy Communion every Sunday in December (which is an additional blessing to have available to those who yearn for it). – Pastor

THE CHOIR IS SINGING HYMN 960 for the gradual for Advent and the congregation will be reading the Psalm of the Day instead of the Introit.  The number for the Psalm will be listed in your bulletin next to the service number (e.g. Divine Service 3 (page 184) Psalm XX).  Please turn to the appropriate Psalm at the front of your hymnal and mark it with a ribbon. - Pastor

THANK YOU ALL FOR THE FEEDBACK ON THE CALLING SERVICE.  The service was able to reach or 78% of the households either personally or by leaving a message, saving 3 and 1/2 hours of calling time.  In addition, close to a dozen called or emailed that they did not get a call and numbers were changed accordingly. There are still some households we do not have good numbers for, but we will work on that. Please continue to call the office 605-925-7219 or email stpaulfreeman@gmail to add additional numbers or give correct numbers.

HOLY COMMUNION The Lord’s Table is open to all current, confirmed members in good standing of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (and churches that we are in pulpit and altar fellowship).  This assumes we confess the oneness of the same faith, have been taught how to examine ourselves, and are truly repentant for our sins (communing worthily). We ask that all guests at Table at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Freeman, to please announce your intention to commune with us to the pastor or elders before the service. Oneness at Communion per-supposes the oneness in doctrine.  If you belong to a different doctrinal confession however, we invite you to come forward to receive a blessing indicated by folding your arms over your chest as you come to the rail, or remain in the pew and pray for the day when divisions would cease. Thank you for respecting our teachings. - Pastor.

HOLY COMMUNION is celebrated in our worship service today.  What a joy and privilege!  In this Sacrament our Lord gives unto us not only bread and wine, but also His very body and blood to eat and drink.  In this Sacrament He assures the repentant sinner that our sins are forgiven and He strengthens our faith.  To our guests who desire to receive Holy Communion at our family meal, we ask that you please refrain from receiving the Sacrament until you have spoken to the Pastor, but are always encouraged to come to the altar for a blessing, indicated by folding the arms over the chest.  We do this not to offend, but to honor the faith we hold dear at St. Paul Lutheran and our sister pulpit/altar fellowship congregations. If you have any questions regarding communion, please pick up a booklet titled: A Simple Explanation of Holy Communion by the guestbook, or call the pastor to arrange a time to meet.
