At ST. PAUL LUTHERAN CHURCH, Freeman, a member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS), we take the Lord's Supper very seriously, and practice closed communion. If you are not a member in good standing of an LCMS congregation, or are unsure of what a closed communion practice is, or disagree with this practice, we understand, and welcome you to come forward to the chancel rail and hold your hands crossed against themselves to receive a Word from the Lord in blessing. Yet please, do not leave offended, but contact the pastor to arrange a time to discuss it with you in person to see what the issues are that we are so careful about and how you may join the family meal.

OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE: Volunteers do not necessarily have the time they just have the
heart.” Elizabeth Andrew. This quote emphasizes the importance of
volunteering to serve, especially your fellow congregation in its mission to
provide Word and Sacrament within the family of God in this place known as St.
Paul Lutheran Church, Freeman SD. There are a couple of opportunities to serve
the needs of your brothers and sisters in Christ coming up at this month's
Voter's meeting.
Finance Committee. These volunteers are elected to serve as Officers of St. Paul
Lutheran Church in a three-year term to account for the donations
given to St. Paul.
Circuit Forum Lay Delegate: These volunteers are elected to serve for the Freeman area
Circuit Forum as the St Paul Lutheran Church
Delegate at the tri-annual Circuit Forum/Convocation
meeting, held this year, November 1st at Immanuel, Hartford.
District/National Lay Delegate (and
Alternate). Besides Pastoral
Delegates, Lay Delegate volunteers are elected to serve as
the St. Paul Lutheran Church Delegates at the tri-annual District Convention,
scheduled for April 11-3th 2021 in Sioux Falls, and the National Convention in
2022 (time and location TBA). Alternate Delegates are also
elected in case the Lay Delegate cannot serve in this function.
And many more. There
are many more ways to serve your neighbor at St. Paul Lutheran Church (and the
surrounding community) but these opportunities are coming up this month. Please
speak to an Elder (Steven Knodel, Dean Dreessen, Brian Knittle), the Chairman
(Keith Knodel) or Pastor Makelin to volunteer to serve in any of these capacities.
If you are waiting to be asked, consider it done. Please serve your neighbor.
Pastor Makelin
