08/31/2014 Announcements

IN OUR DAILY PRAYERS this week we remember Arlene and Arden Stern as Arden recuperates in Oakview Nursing Home and as well as Mahala Peterson as she transitions from Salem Assisted Living Home to Oakview.  Please also pray for those in cancer treatment programs as well as our shut-in and inactive members, and at least 2 family members or friends in your life who do not yet know Christ.

Main Street Living – August 31st – The featured speaker is Rev. Paul Pater of St. John Lutheran Church in Howard.  His sermon theme will be “Genuine Love.”  The program is interpreted for the hearing impaired.

LADIES AID  will meet on September 4th at 7:00 with Susan Borglum as Hostess.  Session 6 – The Unmerciful Servant will be the Bible Study followed by the business meeting.  Sharon Buechler  is on Altar Guild for September and Darlene Schrag is Visiting Helper.  Coffee Hour committee for September 7th is Sharon Pfeiffer, Barb Salis and Darlene Schrag. 

RALLY DAY POTLUCK: The ENTIRE CONGREGATION is invited to our annual Rally Day Potluck on September 7th.  We will be preparing Brats and Hot dogs and are asking the congregation to bring a side dish or dessert to share and enjoy great food and fellowship.  -Board of Ed

NEW SUNDAY SCHOOL CURRICULUM  The Board of Education will be introducing an exciting new Sunday School plan!  We are looking  for teachers and others to share their talents with our young people.  Please see the bulletin board for more information about our new program. 

CONFIRMATION CLASSES will begin on Wed., Sept. 10th at 4:00.

CONFIRMAND & PARENT MEETING – There will be a meeting for our confirmands and their parents in the Fellowship Hall next Sunday after the worship service.

MEN’S BIBLE STUDY CLASSES will restart this Wednesday, Sept. 3rd with Lesson 9 from the Book of Jude.  All guys are welcome to join us at 6:00 a.m. each Wednesday in our Fellowship Hall for breakfast (if you wish) and the studying of God’s Word!  All materials will be provided.

THE LORD’S SUPPER at St. Paul Lutheran Church is administered in accordance with the Holy Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions.  It is celebrated in the confidence that we receive – in, with and under the consecrated bread and wine – our Savior’s true Body and Blood for the forgiveness of our sins.  All who commune at this altar are making this public confession of the faith that we believe and teach as is written in the Holy Scriptures.  If you are not a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and yet desire to receive the Sacrament, please speak with the Pastor before the worship service.

 MOVIE ON MAIN STREET – The Jackson Lee Vetch Memorial Fund Board is inviting everyone to a special, free showing of the film “Heaven in For Real” on August 10th on Main Street in Freeman.  The festivities will begin at 7:30 p.m. with a presentation of the “Home Town Hero” Award at 8:00 and the movie presentation at about 8:45 p.m.  Please check the Freeman Courier for more details.

MOVIE ON MAIN STREET – The Jackson Lee Vetch Memorial Fund Board is inviting everyone to a special, free showing of the film “Heaven in For Real” on August 10th on Main Street in Freeman.  The festivities will begin at 7:30 p.m. with a presentation of the “Home Town Hero” Award at 8:00 and the movie presentation at about 8:45 p.m.  Please check the Freeman Courier for more details.

REFORMATION WORSHIP SERVICE – We will be hosting this year’s annual Reformation worship service for our circuit of 12 churches.  The service will be on Nov. 2nd with the songfest beginning at 10:30 and the worship service beginning at 11:00 so as to allow the members of the other circuit churches to attend.  Following the service, we will offer a noon meal in our Fellowship Hall.  The cost will be $6.00; lunch tickets may be purchased from the Pastor.  At 2:00 Rev. Dr. Paul Maier (a professor of Ancient History at Western Michigan Univ. and a prolific author) will begin his presentation on “Martin Luther and the Reformation.”  Additional information has been posted on the bulletin board.

QUARTERLY VOTERS’ MEETING NOTICEOur Summer voters’ meeting will be held today in the Fellowship Hall right after the worship service.

VBS:  THANK YOU to all the helpers/ teachers and those that donated supplies. We could have not done it without you. We had over 30 kids come to this safari theme week. We studied The Lord's Prayer with lots of fun lessons, games, food and crafts.

A THANK YOU letter from The Banquet was received this week.  It’s posted on the bulletin board if you wish to read it.  The letter also gives some statistics on the number of meals they serve and to whom, the number of backpacks distributed, etc.  They now have 2 locations from which they operate

06/22/2014 Announcements

IN YOUR DAILY PRAYERS this week please remember Myron Schaffer and Arden Stern who are both still hospitalized, Rev. and Bunne Weeman in their travels to see Bunne’s sick mother, Pauline Walz on her 103rd birthday, the people and their families affected by the recent tornadoes, those who are recovering from surgery and illness, those in cancer treatment programs as well as our shut-in and inactive members, and at least 2 family members or friends in your life who do not yet know Christ.

BACCALAUREATE – The Freeman School Board has received a legal request from the Freedom From Religion Foundation to cease and desist all sponsorship of their annual baccalaureate ceremony.  The School Board has asked the Freeman Ministerial Association to consider taking over this ministry and moving it to a neutral location; the topic has been put on the Association’s June agenda.  If you have any comments that you would like the Association to consider, you may present them in person or you may give them to the Pastor and he will present them for you.

HERRBOLDT-REMPFER WEDDING – Yesterday, June 21st, Jake Rempfer and Burgundy Herrboldt exchanged marriage vows and loving commitments.  May God bless their life together with wisdom, purity, self-sacrifice and love.

Main Street Living – June 22nd The featured speaker will be Rev. Ken Johnson of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Springfield and Zion Lutheran Church in Avon.  His sermon theme will be “Here’s the Deal.”  The program is interpreted for the hearing impaired.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Pauline Walz!  Pauline is 103 years young today!  Please join us in celebration!  We will be serving cake and ice cream after the worship service.  The flowers on the altar are in honor of Pauline.
