5-9-2010 announcements

WE CONGRATULATE our confirmands who have now completed the study of the basic Christian doctrines and are now confirmed in their faith. We pray that the Lord would continue to bless and strengthen their faith through the study of His Word and the encouragement of parents and fellow believers in Jesus Christ, our Lord.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY! We thank the Lord for all our mothers who have given us life, who have fed us, clothed us and provided for our every need from our very first day of life. We thank our faithful mothers who read Bible stories to us and taught us how to pray to our Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior. We thank our mothers who have shown us how to be good parents and providers for our families. We thank our Lord for all the faithful mothers who are now with the Lord in heaven.

FOLLOWING the service this morning, Brogun Lee Broders becomes a child of God through God’s own Word and promise in the sacrament of baptism. His parents are Thomas Broders and Kelli Olesen. His sponsors are Sara Broders, Alen Broders and Jason Schenkel. Brogun will be having more surgery on his heart on May 19th. We pray that Brogun’s surgery may be successful and allow him to live a normal life.

ARDEN & ARLENE STERN’S nephew’s, Lee and Troy Heckenlaible will be leaving tomorrow (Monday) for Afghanistan for one year duty. Please keep them in your prayers.

“I HAVE GOOD NEWS FOR YOU”: Pastor Kramer will be starting and adult instruction class, titled, “I Have Good News for You.” It covers the basic Christian doctrines in ten lessons, each lasting about an hour and a half. Upon completion of the course, you may join the church, but there is no obligation to do so. The course is also an excellent Biblical review for those who are already members. If you are interested, please speak to the pastor or sign up on the bulletin board. We will try to work with your schedules; cassette tapes will be also available for those unable to attend class. Tentative time- Sunday after services or any weekday evening.

DUAL PARISH UPDATE: Our voters met yesterday (Sunday, May 2nd) to discuss our dual parish options. They decided not to pursue a dual parish with St. Paul’s. We sincerely appreciate your willingness to consider a dual parish agreement. We enjoyed meeting with you. I will contact Pastor Christopher and let him know our decision. We pray God’s blessings on your church as you call a new pastor. The Lord’s Grace be with you. Dave Guericke

FREEMAN REGIONAL HEALTH SERVICES AUXILIARY FUNDRAISING DRIVE: May is fundraising month for FRHS AUXILIARY. In the past volunteers went door to door contacting Freeman residents & area country residents were contacted through each church. Due to the difficulty of finding volunteers the FRHS Auxiliary decided to do the fundraising by having contribution baskets available at each church throughout the month of May. FRHS Auxiliary uses these funds to purchase needed items at our local hospital/nursing home. We are very fortunate to have health services available in our community and we would appreciate your contributions. Thank you.

MAIN STREET LIVING:

May 16th Kid's Crossing watch as Janitor Bob tells Simon about the good shepherd. Krista K visits with a modern day shepherd.

The hymns are Come, Thou Almighty King; I’m But a Stranger Here; and Children of the Heavenly Father. The Main Street Living Choir will provide the hymns. The program is interpreted for the hearing impaired.

LUTHERAN’S FOR LIFE ANNUAL DIAPER DERBY will began today concluding thru Father’s Day, June 20th, 2010. A Rubbermaid storage container will be provided for donations and pull-ups of all sizes. Layette/shower type items will be accepted for the “Fleet for Little Feet” mobile unit that service many communities throughout South Dakota. This is a state wide event for Lutheran Congregations throughout South Dakota, and we are pleased to have the opportunity to participate again.
