12-25-2011 Announcements

IN OUR DAILY PRAYERS this week please remember Brian Stern who recently had surgery for a detached retina, Lindsay Thomas who will have oral surgery this week, the successful surgeries on Kermit Schrag and Connie Hinckley, all others who are recovering from surgery and illness, those being treated for cancer and those in remission, our shut-in members and, especially during the Christmas Season, at least two people who don’t know Christ.

BAPTISM OF VINCE KRAJEFSKA – We joyfully welcome Vince Anthony Krajefska into our Christian family today through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism! We thank God for giving Vince new birth, true faith and eternal life, and we pray that God’s holy angels will watch over him throughout his life. Vince is the son of Anthony and Heather (nee Paulson) Krajefska.

LADIES AID will meet on January 5th at 7 p.m. Our regular business meeting will include the election of a Vice-Chairman and Secretary for a 2 year term. Nominated for Vice-Chairman are Garnet Stern and Barb Salis; nominated for Secretary are Phyllis Knittel and Corrine Handel. Pastor will led us in Bible study; we will study session #3 in our Life of Jesus Teachings book. Our hostess for the evening will be Lee Lagendyk. Coffee hour committee for January 1st will be Joan Dreessen and Millie Gunderson. In charge of Altar flowers for the month of January will be Garnet Stern. All ladies of the congregation are invited to join us for the evening.

LADIES AID had a very successful Christmas Project this year which was to provide financial support for the Main Street Living television programming broadcasts. Donations received were $490; however, since this was a 2-for-1 matching fund project, a check for $980 was sent to MSL. Thank you very much to all who helped make the project a success!

NEW YEAR’S EVE worship service will not be held this year. However, we still encourage everyone to do their personal evening devotions, remembering that no matter what personal difficulties we will face next year, no matter what decisions we will have to make, no matter the times of uncertainty or anxiety in our lives, Jesus Christ … “who is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Heb. 13:8) … will be there to strengthen us, help us, comfort us and guide us. Only God knows what 2013 will bring but whatever may happen, one thing remains the same: Jesus Christ, who is “our God, our help in ages past, our hope for years to come, our shelter from the stormy blast and our eternal home” (LSB 733 Verse 1).

NO MIDWEEK SCHOOL or CONFIRMATION CLASSES on the last Wednesday of December; both classes will resume January 4th!

PLEASE PRAYERFULLY CONSIDER using your God-given gifts and talents in service to Him and our church. We will need the following offices to be filled. Please contact one of the Elders or the Chairman if you are willing to have your name placed on the ballot for: Chairman, Elder, Trustee, Board of Education, Evangelism, Usher and congregation Secretary.

WANTED: DARTBALL PLAYERS! Young and old, men and ladies, you are all invited to join us for dartball this year. Please contact Dean or Orville if you are interested in playing.
