IN OUR DAILY PRAYERS this week please include a prayer of thanksgiving for the progress that Connie Hinckley has made since her strokes and as she recovers at home, and for Bryan Roth and Geoffrey Pfeiffer as they continue in their treatment programs -- and, of course, our shut-in and inactive members, and at least two people in your life who do not yet know Christ are always in need of our prayer support.
BONE MARROW DONOR REGISTRY – Please take a few minutes to read the flyer on the bulletin board about becoming a bone marrow donor or a supporter of the program. The need for a bone marrow transplant impacted one family in Freeman a few months ago and is now affecting another family. Being a bone marrow donor – or just providing financial support – is a very rewarding and a very needed way to help our community’s children.
QUARTERLY VOTERS’ MEETING NOTICE – Our Summer voters’ meeting will be held July 29th at 11:00 in the Fellowship Hall.
SONRISE NATIONAL PARK VBS – The dates for VBS are July 16th thru July 20th 5:15 to 8:15. Supper will be provided from 5:15 to 5:45 with VBS starting at 5:45. Please sign up your child/children on the “sign-up form” on the bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall as soon as possible. There is also a sign up list of things we need for VBS.
SAMARTAN GROUP will meet this Wednesday evening at 8:15 following VBS for a short meeting. Please try to attend as there are a couple of important issues we need to discuss.
THE LUTHERAN HOUR – July 22 – “Capacity for Compassion” will be Rev. Gregory Seltz’ sermon theme. The Lutheran Hour is broadcast on Sunday mornings at 8:30 on 105.9 FM (KMIT) and at 9:30 on 570 AM (WNAX).
MAIN STREET LIVING – July 22 – Kid’s Crossing looks at the story of Mary and Martha as Bernice works on crafts for Bible school. The speaker will be Rev. Dan Domke from Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron. His sermon theme will be “The Perfect Shepherd.” Main Street Living may be seen each Sunday morning at 10 a.m. on KDLT-NBC Sioux Falls.
THE LORD’S SUPPER is celebrated at this congregation in the confession that, as our Lord says, He gives us not only bread and wine but His very Body and Blood to eat and drink for the forgiveness of our sins and to strengthen our union with Him and with one another. Our Lord invites to His table all those who trust His words, repent of their sins and set aside any refusal to forgive and love others as He forgives and loves us. Because those who eat and drink our Lord’s Body and Blood unworthily (that is, they do not recognize the bread and wine to also be His Body and Blood) do so to their great harm and because Holy Communion is a confession of the faith which is confessed at this altar, any who are not yet baptized, instructed in the Christian faith or those who hold a confession differing from that of this congregation and the LC-MS and yet desire to receive the Sacrament, are asked to speak with the Pastor before the worship service.
