11-11-2012 Announcements

IN OUR DAILY PRAYERS this week we remember Doris Albrecht who was hospitalized again last week, our nation’s veterans, our shut-in and inactive members, and at least 2 people who do not know Christ.

DR. PAUL MAIER, a well-known LC-MS pastor and author of about two dozen children’s books, non-fiction books on Biblical history and Biblical-character biographies, will be giving a free presentation for the general public at Zion Lutheran Church in Mitchell on Nov. 17th at 7:30.  No RSVP is needed.

THE SAMARITANS would like to thank all those who came to take pictures for the church directory this week.  Thanks also to all the hosts and hostesses who helped make the days run smoothly.  It is our prayer that this directory will be a blessing to our congregation.

ANYONE WHO DID NOT GET A PICTURE TAKEN for the directory but would still like to be included is welcome to submit a picture.  If you choose to do this, there is a $10 charge.  Please submit your photos to either Betsy Knodel or Meranda VanNingen within the next two weeks.

THE LORD’S SUPPER is celebrated at this congregation in the confession that, as our Lord says, He gives us not only bread and wine but His very Body and Blood to eat and drink for the forgiveness of our sins and to strengthen our union with Him and with one another.  Our Lord invites to His table all those who trust His words, repent of their sins and set aside any refusal to forgive and love others as He forgives and loves us.  Because those who eat and drink our Lord’s Body and Blood unworthily (that is, they do not recognize the bread and wine to also be His Body and Blood) do so to their great harm and because Holy Communion is a confession of the faith which is confessed at this altar, any who are not yet baptized, not instructed in the Christian faith, not a member of this church nor the LC-MS and yet desire to receive the Sacrament, are asked to speak with the Pastor before the worship service.

THANK YOU to all who helped to rake leaves last Sunday.  It was a great job well done and everyone’s help was greatly appreciated!!

THE LUTHERAN HOUR is broadcast on Sunday mornings at 8:30 on 105.9 FM and at 9:30 on 570 AM.

MAIN STREET LIVING Nov. 18 – Kid’s Crossing prepares for Christmas with the story “Christmas Is.”  The featured speaker will be Rev. Steve Wagner from Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Custer and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hill City.  MSL may be seen on Sunday mornings at 10:00 on KDLT-NBC.
