12/15/2013 Announcements

IN OUR DAILY PRAYERS please remember Hunter Kjose (Arden and Arlene Stern’s grandson) and Christa Peterson as they recover from their surgeries, Clara Baer and Myron Schaffer who are still hospitalized, those in cancer treatment programs as well as our shut-in and inactive members, and at least 2 family members or friends in your life who do not yet know Christ.

THE LORD’S SUPPER at St. Paul Lutheran Church is administered in accordance with the Holy Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions. It is celebrated in the confidence that we receive – in, with and under the consecrated bread and wine – our Savior’s true Body and Blood for the forgiveness of our sins. All who commune at this altar are making this public confession of the faith that we believe and teach as is written in the Holy Scriptures. If you are not a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and yet desire to receive the Sacrament, please speak with the Pastor before the worship service

PLEASE PRAYERFULLY CONSIDER using your God-given gifts and talents in service to our Lord and His church. In January we will need to fill various offices and positions. Please contact the Chairman of the Congregation (Randy Koerner) or any elder if you are willing to have your name placed on the 2014 election ballot. Thanks!

MIDWEEK ADVENT SERVICES – We will gather at 7:00 p.m. this Wednesday for our 3rd and final midweek Advent worship service. At 5:45 p.m. we will also provide a soup and sandwich supper for all who wish to get together for a light meal. The theme for this year’s Advent services is “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel.” Please plan to join us and please bring a friend or relative to share in this opportunity for worship and fellowship!

NO MIDWEEK SCHOOL or CONFIRMATION CLASSES on Wednesday, Dec. 25th or on Wednesday, Jan. 1st. Classes will resume January 8th.

Extra ADVENT DEVOTIONAL BOOKLETS are in the library.

DECEMBER 22 is the date set for our choir cantata. This year's selection is "A Festive Celebration of Christmas Joy". Please join us and bring your friends as we present this selection of traditional songs and narration.

COOKBOOKS make great Christmas gifts. We will again be selling them after church this Sunday. If you need any before, or after that, contact Diane Schnabel, LaNae Harberts or Kristi Dannenbring. Kairos also has them available during the week.

REMINDER: All money that is put into special envelopes (Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.) is designated as missions. Regular Sunday envelopes have two parts. One side is for general fund and the other side is for missions. If you want your offering to go to something other than general fund or missions, please write a note on the outside of your envelope. Usually, the loose plate offerings go into the general fund. It was voted on at the last quarterly meeting to designate loose plate offerings, from Thanksgiving through the end of the year, to go to the local food pantry. - The Board of Finance

ST. PAUL’S LITTLEST LAMBS – The Cradle Roll banner is now hung and has the names of our littlest lambs on it. Please check it out! We thank Meranda Van Ningen from the Kairos for her creative design talents in working with us and we thank Morgan Kleinsasser for hanging the banner.

TIS THE SEASON: The BOE once again is doing our Mission Mitten Tree. We are collecting blankets or warm outdoor clothing - scarves, mittens, hats, boots, coats anything that the congregation would like to donate to help those in need. Thank you, GOD Bless You this Christmas and your giving.

LADIES AID CHRISTMAS PROJECT is Main Street Living. If anyone is interested in contributing, there will be a basket at the kitchen window for several Sundays. Funds will be matched by the Ladies Aid. Thank you!

CHRISTMAS FUND – Through Dec. 29th we will be accepting freewill offerings to replenish our Christmas Fund. These monies are used to replace or repair our Advent and Christmas decorations, as needed, as well as to purchase the Children’s Christmas Program gift bag items.

MENTOR/MENTEE will be meeting tonight at 7:00 p.m. Please plan to attend for fun and fellowship.

CHRISTMAS WORSHIP SERVICES – We invite you to join us as we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of Man and Son of God! Our Christmas Eve Children’s Program will be held on Dec. 24th at 7:00 p.m. Please mark your calendars and come rejoice with us as our youth present the Christmas story and as we worship our Savior and Redeemer. Our Christmas Day service will be Dec. 25th at 9:30 a.m. Both services will be filled with your favorite Christmas hymns so bring a friend with you!
