09-08-2019 Announcements

HOLY COMMUNION is celebrated in our worship service today.  What a joy and privilege!  In this Sacrament our Lord gives unto us not only bread and wine, but also His very body and blood to eat and drink.  In this Sacrament He assures us that our sins are forgiven and He strengthens our faith.  To our guests who desire to receive Holy Communion, we ask that you consider the following:  If you do not believe in Jesus as your Savior, do not believe in the Real Presence of the Sacrament, or have never received instruction on how to prepare yourself for Communion, you should refrain from receiving the Sacrament, but are encouraged to come to the altar for a blessing, indicated by folding the arms over the chest.  We do this not to offend, but to honor the faith we hold at St. Paul Lutheran.  If you have any questions regarding communion, please speak to the Pastor or an Elder before service begins.

IN YOUR PRAYERS Pray this week for; Those who are recovering from surgery, hospitalization, or sudden illnesses (Brandon) and for those who have long term health issues and/or difficulty coming to services on their own (Orville, Connie, Bernice, Lee, Lavonne, Lorna, Melton, Millie, Ruth, Alice, Norby, Sharon, Wyona, Lucille, Marlene)

NOTE, THE BULLETIN INSERTS HAVE CHANGED from the "Kids in the Divine Service" back to the "Family Devotions" for the school year.  These are intended as a beginning devotional (if you are not used to doing family devotions), or a supplement to daily family devotions. For parents, these are meant to assist in your responsibility to teach your child the faith they have been baptized into. Having your child repeat the Catechism and "What does this mean" aloud, reading Scripture(s) and praying with your child is the second part of Christ's command on making a disciple...the teaching part. (...make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and teaching them all that I have commanded you) Matthew 28:19b. - Pastor

AFTER SERVICE APOLOGETICS STUDY begins today in the Youth room upstairs (for now).  If you have not signed up, come anyways, we can share workbooks until we get you one. What is Apologetics you may ask?  Apologetics comes from the word apology, not "I'm sorry" but “to defend” (such as Apology of the Augsburg Confession).  Apologetics is how to defend the Faith in a Christian (Lutheran) manner and perspective (worldview) when asked or challenged by another perspective.

THE MENTOR/MENTEE planning meeting will be held on September 22 at 7:00 p.m. Katelyn and Kare will host. If you are in grades 7-12 and would like to join the group, please call Karen at 925-7062
