IN YOUR DAILY PRAYERS this week please remember Myron Schaffer and Arden Stern who are both still hospitalized, Rev. and Bunne Weeman in their travels to see Bunne’s sick mother, Pauline Walz on her 103^rd birthday, the people and their families affected by the recent tornadoes, those who are recovering from surgery and illness, those in cancer treatment programs as well as our shut-in and inactive members, and at least 2 family members or friends in your life who do not yet know Christ.

BACCALAUREATE – The Freeman School Board has received a legal request from the Freedom From Religion Foundation to cease and desist all sponsorship of their annual baccalaureate ceremony.  The School Board has asked the Freeman Ministerial Association to consider taking over this ministry and moving it to a neutral location; the topic has been put on the Association’s June agenda.  If you have any comments that you would like the Association to consider, you may present them in person or you may give them to the Pastor and he will present them for you.

HERRBOLDT-REMPFER WEDDING – Yesterday, June 21^st, Jake Rempfer and Burgundy Herrboldt exchanged marriage vows and loving commitments.  May God bless their life together with wisdom, purity, self-sacrifice and love.

Main Street Living – June 22^nd The featured speaker will be Rev. Ken Johnson of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Springfield and Zion Lutheran Church in Avon.  His sermon theme will be “Here’s the Deal.”  The program is interpreted for the hearing impaired.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Pauline Walz!  Pauline is 103 years young today!  Please join us in celebration!  We will be serving cake and ice cream after the worship service.  The flowers on the altar are in honor of Pauline.

The FLOWERS ON THE ALTAR today were given by the family of Roman and Norma Miller in honor of their 40^th wedding anniversary on June 13^th.  Happy anniversary!  May God continue to bless you always!

happy 90^th birthday to June Heckenlaible!  On June 10^th she celebrated her birthday at home with her family; she had wanted to return to Freeman for the occasion but, because of health reasons, was unable to do so.  For those who wish to send her a card – and we encourage everyone to do so! – June’s address is:  11903 Camden Brook St., Las Vegas, NV 89183-5640.

MEN’S BIBLE STUDY CLASS is done now for the summer.  We will resume our Wednesday morning fellowship time in September.

LUTHERAN BIBLE TRANSLATORS freewill offerings collected last week totaled $400.  As discussed during Rev. Chris LaBoube’s presentation, the funds have been sent to LBT and were designated for Rev. LaBoube’s use in his ministry in Ghana, West Africa.  Rev. LaBoube thanks SPLC for our support of his work in God’s Kingdom and for giving him time during our fellowship hour to give a presentation of his work in Africa.

Main Street Living – June 8^th – The featured speaker will be Rev. Daniel Redhage of First English Lutheran in Centerville and Zion Lutheran in Hurley.  His sermon theme will be “A New Meaning to an Old Holiday.”  The program is interpreted for the hearing impaired.

BAPTISM OF DAXSON PODZIMEK – We joyfully welcome Daxson Albert Podzimek into our Christian family today through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism!  We thank God for giving him new birth, true faith, salvation and eternal life, and we pray that God’s holy angels will watch over him throughout his life.  Daxson is the son of Dan and Karissa Podzimek.  Please greet them in the receiving line following our worship service.

LADIES AID will meet on June 5 at 7:00 pm with Mildred Siekmann  as Hostess.  The Bible Study will be Session 5 – The Sower,  followed by the Business Meeting.  On Altar Guild for June is Millie Gunderson and Mildred Siekmann is Visiting Helper

SANFORD HOSPICE FREEMAN invites friends and family of hospice patients and community members to their annual Celebration of Life memorial service on Sunday, June 1, 2014, 4 pm. at the Arboretum Visitors Center.  Registration is not required and the service is open to friends and family who have experienced the death of a loved one in the past 18 months. They suggests to have around 40 people.  Please sign up on the bulletin board if you are willing and able to help with this project. A small group will need to be there by 2 p.m. to help prepare the meal and servers/helpers are asked to be there by 5:15 p.m.

CORRECTION SHEET: Anyone interested in getting a correction sheet for the cookbook, please see the bulletin board for the green insert. There are five corrections that will affect the outcome of the recipes. Thank you to those that helped make the corrections.  Also thanks again to all that submitted recipes and purchased cookbooks. There are still cookbooks available.

MISSION SUNDAY this year will be next Sunday.  Our guest pastor will be Rev. Chris LaBoube who has been working with Lutheran Bible Translators in Ghana, West Africa for the last 4 years.  His work as Scripture Media Advisor principally entails the translation, recording and dissemination of Christian literature and music.  Prior to being called to serve with LBT in Ghana, Rev. LaBoube was the pastor at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Greenleaf, Kansas.  Rev. LaBoube will also have a presentation for us during the first part of our Fellowship Hour after our worship service.  Everyone is encouraged to stay for our fellowship time and Rev. LaBoube’s discussion session.  We will be accepting freewill donations between now and the 25^th to help support his mission work.

cemetery plots available – We have been asked to remind everyone that our church still owns 3 plots in the Freeman Cemetery.  All of the other plots that we owned have been sold to some of our members over the years.  If you wish to purchase one or more of the remaining plots, please contact Arden Dewald for the cost, location and other details.  Thanks.

AN OPEN HOUSE will be held in the church fellowship hall on Sunday May 25th from 2-4 PM in honor of Phyllis Knittel's 80th birthday.  The congregation is invited.  No gifts please.

 MAIN STREET LIVING SUNDAY – Today we celebrate Main Street Living Sunday.  Main Street Living is in its 13^th year of proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ to the people of South Dakota and the surrounding area.  The program is aired weekly on KDLT-NBC out of Sioux Falls and on KEVN-Fox out of Rapid City.  Throughout the years this program has become the alternate method of worship for those who cannot regularly attend church.  We thank God for this television ministry and we ask for your prayers for continuing success in the years to come.  We also ask for your help with the financing of this mission work as it costs about $2,200 to air each weekly program.  Please use the provided envelope and either send it directly to the MSL office or just place it in the offering today and it will be forwarded to MSL.  Thank you very much for your prayers and your support!

OLINDA STARK’S ENTRANCE INTO GLORY – We pray for peace and comfort for the family of Olinda Stark whom God called home last Tuesday, April 22^nd.  We pray that God would comfort all who mourn with the hope of the glorious resurrection of the body on the Last Day and a happy reunion in heaven.  Olinda’s home-going service was held yesterday, April 26^th.

 MELCHER SCHOLARSHIP applications may be picked up from one of the ushers. The application needs to be returned on or before Sunday, April 27th. You may give your application to Betsy, Barb or Diane.

MEN’S BIBLE STUDY CLASS – Rise and shine!  We have completed our study of the Books of I & II Thessalonians.  This week we will begin studying the Book of Jude which records for us timely warnings against the devil’s lies and those on earth who do his bidding.  The time of the world’s final accountability to God is near and we must never cease to fight for the faith.  All class materials will be provided.  All guys are welcome to join us at 6:00 a.m. each Wednesday in our Fellowship Hall for a hot breakfast and the studying of God’s Word!

IF ANYONE has belongings that were left in their home from the MSEC Choir, please bring it to the Pastor. He will make sure to get them back their belongings. Thank you.

EASTER LILY REMINDER – For those of you who are planning to purchase an Easter lily for our altar on Easter Sunday and would like the person’s name in the bulletin for whom the flowers are given in memory of, please let us know as soon as possible but not later than Wednesday, April 16th. Thank you.

HOLY WEEK WORSHIP SERVICES – Our Maundy Thursday and Good Friday worship services will begin at 7:00 p.m. Please take advantage of this opportunity to worship with us during these last 2 Lenten services! The Sacrament of The Lord’s Supper will be observed on Maundy Thursday. We will offer 2 services again this year on Easter Sunday. The sunrise service will begin at 7:30 and the late service will begin at the usual time of 9:30.

PALM SUNDAY POTLUCK – We will be having a potluck luncheon at 11:30 today to thank Bethany Christian School’s choir for their participation in the service and to support them in their trip to South Dakota. Please be ready on or before 11:30 since they have a limited amount of time to spend with us after our worship service. Thanks.

BETHANY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL’S CHOIR (from Goshen, IN) is whom our church is hosting this weekend. They are also providing much of our music this morning. Nathan Swartzendruber is their choir director. Thank you very much, Mr. Swartzendruber and Choir, for your dedicated and talented service to our Lord and His church! May God keep you safe on your travels.

MIDWEEK LENTEN SERVICES – This Wednesday will be the last of our 6 Lenten midweek services on the theme “The Passion According to St. Mark.” A soup and sandwich supper will be offered beginning at 5:45; the service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Please join us for worship!

LWML will meet on Wednesday April 9th at 6:00 p.m. before the Lenten Service. We will take part in the soup supper and have our business meeting while we eat and attend the Lenten Service after.

HELEN SCHAMBER’S ENTRANCE INTO GLORY – We pray for peace and comfort for the family of Helen Schamber whom God called home last Monday, March 31st. We pray that God would comfort all who mourn with the hope of the glorious resurrection of the body and a happy reunion in heaven, and that He would sustain the family with the knowledge that all who remain faithful will be given the crown of eternal life and will be in our Lord’s presence forevermore. Helen’s home-going service was held yesterday, April 5th.

EASTER LILY REMINDER – For those of you who are planning to purchase an Easter lily for our altar on Easter Sunday and would like the person’s name in the bulletin for whom the flowers are given in memory of, please let us know as soon as possible but not later than Wednesday, April 16th. Thank you.

PALM SUNDAY POTLUCK – We will be having a potluck luncheon after our Palm Sunday worship service to thank Bethany Christian School’s choir for their participation in the service. Please mark your calendars and plan to join us for lunch! And just a suggestion … when you are preparing your favorite salad / entrée / dessert to bring to the potluck, you may want to consider using the next larger size dish or container. We will be having an extra 29 choir personnel to feed who won’t be able to bring anything of their own to the meal and we do not want to run out of food! Thanks

PALM SUNDAY WEEKEND throughout Freeman will be a weekend to remember! Six Mennonite high schools will join the Freeman Academy for the weekend, culminating in a mass concert on Sunday afternoon (April 13th) in Sterling Hall. Our church has agreed to be a host congregation for one of these schools. Bethany Christian School is the one that has been assigned to us; they have 27 (Grades 10 thru 12) youth in their choir. Bethany’s choir will be providing most of the music for the service. In addition, all of the youth and the chaperones now have a place to stay. A huge “Thank You” to all of you who opened your homes to them.

MELCHER SCHOLARSHIP applications may be picked up from one of the ushers. The application needs to be returned on or before Sunday, April 27th. You may give your application to Betsy, Barb or Diane.

EASTER SUNDAY –The Youth Group will be serving breakfast after the Sunrise Service. Please join us. There will not be Sunday School or Coffee Hour after the Easter Service.

MAY 21ST our church will be serving at The Banquet in Sioux Falls. The Samaritan group is organizing it but will need many volunteers from the congregation to help. Please mark your calendars now and watch for more details as it gets closer.

CONFIRMATION SUNDAY
We welcome everyone to today’s Confirmation service and the bringing of our 5 confirmands – Tracy Andersen, Bryce Dannenbring, Charles Harberts, Levi Hintz and Lindsay Thomas – into the church as communicant members through the Rite of Confirmation. We pray that the Lord will continue to sanctify them through His Word and that they will continue to walk the road of life with their pathways brightened by the never-failing lamp of His Word. Everyone is invited to stay for the coffee and cake reception after the service.
