MAIN STREET LIVING – November 25,2018: Worship Service-“What Jesus Didn’t Know” is the title of the message presented by Rev. Ken Johnson, the pastor at Zion Lutheran in Avon and Our Savior’s Lutheran in Springfield.  Pastor Johnson bases the message on Mark 13:32.  Additional information is available on the web site: www.mainstreetliving.com.

REMINDER:  We will not be having Holy Communion today, but will be having it on Thanksgiving Day, (the  22nd). Services start at 9:30 a.m.  See you there!

BAZAAR INCOME - We want to thank everyone again who contributed in any way toward making our 54th annual bazaar a success. The total income for this year was $5937.25. We had a $250.00 prepaid Visa card through the Thrivent Action Team which we used to purchase the milk, orange drink, buns, and other supplies needed for the bazaar. Thanks – The Bazaar Committee.

WE ARE GLAD YOU ARE WITH US TODAY

HOLY COMMUNION is celebrated in our worship service today.  What a joy and privilege!  In this Sacrament our Lord gives unto us not only bread and wine, but also His very body and blood to eat and drink.  In this Sacrament He assures us that our sins are forgiven and He strengthens our faith.  To our guests who desire to receive Holy Communion, we ask that you consider the following:  If you do not believe in Jesus as your Savior, do not believe in the Real Presence of the Sacrament, or have never received instruction on how to prepare yourself for Communion, you should refrain from receiving the Sacrament, but are encouraged to come to the altar for a blessing, indicated by folding the arms over the chest.  We do this not to offend, but to honor the faith we hold at St. Paul Lutheran.  If you have any questions regarding communion, please speak to the Pastor or an Elder before service begins

YOUTH GROUP MEETING  November 18th at 7pm. All teens grades 7-12 are welcome.

REMINDER:  We will not be having Holy Communion on the third Sunday (the 18th), but will be having it on Thanksgiving Day, (the  22nd). Services start at 9:30 a.m.  See you there!

THIS VETERANS DAY, help our Lutheran servicemen and women stay spiritually strong by enrolling them in the Ministry-by-Mail program (see insert). The LCMS works hard to support its members serving in the Armed Forces in such a direct way.  Servicemen and women receive materials in an initial packet when their name is submitted, and they regularly receive copies of Portals of Prayer along with So Help Me God, a quarterly newsletter from the LCMS.

GREETING CARDS FUNDRAISER: the Youth Group will be selling Christian based boxed cards after church today.  Includes a variety of Christmas, Birthday, Sympathy and more.  Proceeds will go toward National Lutheran Youth Gathering in Minneapolis next summer.

OUR ANNUAL BAZAAR will be held Thursday, Nov. 1^st from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. We will have a Stitchery/Craft/ Country Store Booth and the Lunch Counter. We have posted the food list and work schedule on the bulletin board in the fellowship hall and the refrigerator in the kitchen if you want to check what you have volunteered to prepare. If you have any questions regarding the work schedule please contact one of the committee members. We plan to have the kitchen door unlocked by 7:15 a.m.  Also please put a checkmark by your name on the food list when you bring your donations. If you have prepared your food earlier and then froze it, please make sure it is unthawed when you bring it. A sincere Thank You to everyone that has volunteered to bring food and also all the workers. See you Thursday Nov. 1^st for a day of good food and fellowship.

THE LORD’S SUPPER at St. Paul Lutheran Church is administered in accordance with the Holy Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions.  It is celebrated in the confidence that we receive – in, with and under the consecrated bread and wine – our Savior’s true Body and Blood for the forgiveness of our sins.  All who commune at this altar are making this public confession of the faith that we believe and teach as is written in the Holy Scriptures.  If you are not a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and yet desire to receive the Sacrament, please speak with the Pastor before the worship service.

MAIN STREET LIVING – October 14,2018:  NA

LWML SUNDAY.  We add to our prayers today for the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML), the official ladies auxiliary to the Missouri Synod.  See bulletin inserts for information on this organization, and the missions they support through their mite boxes.  See Julie Huber for interest in the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Freeman's local chapter which will be serving coffee for the fellowship hour (mite boxes available for donations).

THANK YOU once again we want to offer a huge thank you to Pastor for his prayers and visits over the past several months during all our health issues, and to the wonderful members of St Paul who sent cards, phone calls, expressed your concern for us and brought in food.  To our wonderful neighbors Jim and Sue for watching over us and to Jim for his excellent job of keeping our lawn looking immaculate after Norby’s accident.  How blessed we are to have you all.  We pray for God’s blessing upon all of you as well.  Norby & Marlene Geidel

A NOTE TO PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS FROM PASTOR: The bulletin inserts are originally designed as a progressive memorization schedule  with the first level, "Primary" being grades 1 & 2, "Level 1" being grades 3 & 4, "Junior" - 5, "Level II - 6, "Level III - 7, and "Level IV" - 8.  These levels are only a guide however, and your child can memorize up to whatever level they are able.  To use these bulletin inserts, during the week, just before bed, or as you get ready for school, or at meals...take 15 minutes together to use the devotion on the one side as a family devotion, then speak together, aloud, the other side.  Don't worry if you child cannot read, because even the littlest ones can parrot back what the you say. When said aloud repeatedly, your child will accidentally begin to memorize it and place God's Word into their hearts and minds! – Pastor

AN EXAMPLE OF USING THE BULLETIN INSERTS: After the family devotion, have everyone speak aloud together; The Fourth Commandment: Honor your father and your mother.    If your child has already got this memorized, move up a level and also say aloud; What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not despise or anger our parents and other authorities, but honor them, serve and obey them, love and cherish them.... and so on.  Please contact me if I am not being clear, and may God's Word ring throughout your household! THE BAZAAR COMMITTEE – is starting to make plans for the November 1st event, which will run from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Food donations are needed for chicken noodle soup, vegetable soup, chili soup, chicken sandwich meat, tavern, salads, pies, cake, pickles, crackers & coffee. A NOTE TO PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS FROM PASTOR: The bulletin inserts are originally designed as a progressive memorization schedule  with the first level, "Primary" being grades 1 & 2, "Level 1" being grades 3 & 4, "Junior" - 5, "Level II - 6, "Level III - 7, and "Level IV" - 8.  These levels are only a guide however, and your child can memorize up to whatever level they are able.  To use these bulletin inserts, during the week, just before bed, or as you get ready for school, or at meals...take 15 minutes together to use the devotion on the one side as a family devotion, then speak together, aloud, the other side.  Don't worry if you child cannot read, because even the littlest ones can parrot back what the you say. When said aloud repeatedly, your child will accidentally begin to memorize it and place God's Word into their hearts and minds! – Pastor

AN EXAMPLE OF USING THE BULLETIN INSERTS: After the family devotion, have everyone speak aloud together; The Fourth Commandment: Honor your father and your mother.    If your child has already got this memorized, move up a level and also say aloud; What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not despise or anger our parents and other authorities, but honor them, serve and obey them, love and cherish them.... and so on.  Please contact me if I am not being clear, and may God's Word ring throughout your household! HOLY COMMUNION is celebrated in our worship service today.  What a joy and privilege!  In this Sacrament our Lord gives unto us not only bread and wine, but also His very body and blood to eat and drink.  In this Sacrament He assures us that our sins are forgiven and He strengthens our faith.  To our guests who desire to receive Holy Communion, we ask that you consider the following:  If you do not believe in Jesus as your Savior, do not believe in the Real Presence of the Sacrament, or have never received instruction on how to prepare yourself for Communion, you should refrain from receiving the Sacrament, but are encouraged to come to the altar for a blessing, indicated by folding the arms over the chest.  We do this not to offend, but to honor the faith we hold at St. Paul Lutheran.  If you have any questions regarding communion, please speak to the Pastor or an Elder before service begins.

IN YOUR PRAYERS - this week please remember those who are recovering from surgery and illness, those in cancer treatment programs, our shut-in and inactive members and at least 2 family members or friends in your life who do not know Christ as they could, that they would accept the invitation to come to Church with you to hear God's Word preached in its purity, and see the Sacraments rightly administered.

GREETING CARDS will be for sale at the Church Bazaar as a fundraiser for the Youth Group. Cash and carry Christian sentiment boxed cards of Christmas, Birthday, Sympathy styles and more. Please consider helping the youth raise money for their National Youth Gathering.

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND, we will be firing up a Christianity review-type study using material called Lutheranism 101 on Tuesday nights, 7:00-8:30, starting September 11th.  The materials do have a $22 cost, but if you cannot afford it, please let me know.  In addition, most Sundays though not all, this same topic and material will be covered during High School Sunday School after services (if you wish to come upstairs and join us).  So, you will have two chances to study the Christian faith a little deeper than way back in Confirmation (or maybe just remember what you were taught)  Please come and hear what we preach, teach, and confess! – Pastor

CIRCUIT LAY LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE, is scheduled for Saturday, September 29 from 10:00 to 2:00 here at St. Paul in Freeman. The topic is Conflict Resolution in Church and Home, led by former District Reconciler Pastor Thomas Christopher.  He will lead the opening Bible study as well as teach on the topic.  Please plan on attending this conference (not far to go -grin) on this very important topic. – Pastor Makelin

The Circuit must elect a pastor and lay voting delegate for the 2019 Synodical Convention in Florida.  The Forum may also submit overtures (in the form of proposed resolutions requesting action by the convention).  An electronic template/instruction document is available at lcms.org/convention/overtures. Please note: each congregation must have a voting delegate present at the forum (appointed or elected by the voter’s assembly).  This delegate has the authority to vote at the forum (in the election of the convention delegates and/or overtures) and any other business that may come up.  The pastoral delegate and alternate will be elected first, then a lay delegate and alternate (selected from candidates from each congregation nominating a person for convention lay delegate).
