09-18-2011 Announcements

IN OUR DAILY PRAYERS this week pray for Myrna Huber (hospitalized after having a stroke last Tuesday), Ray Schultz (Mille Gunderson’s brother who has cancer), those among us (who wish to remain anonymous) who are having personal problems, our shut-in members, our inactive members and for at least two people in your life who don’t know Christ.

“COME FOLLOW ME” is the theme of this year’s Christian Life Workshops. These workshops will be presented by Rev. Darren Olson (Zion, Canistota and St. John, Montrose). The closest workshop will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Yankton on Sept. 23rd. More information is given in the notice posted on the bulletin board. All ladies are invited to attend!

CHOIR PRACTICE CHANGE – Choir practice will continue to be held on Wednesdays at 8:00 pm thru the end of September. Beginning on Oct. 2nd choir practice will be held each Sunday at 11:30.

BAZZAR COMMITTEE has started making plans for the November 3rd event which will run from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Food donations are needed for chili soup, vegetable soup, chicken noodle soup, chicken sandwich meat, tavern, salads, pies, cake, pickles, crackers & coffee. We will also need workers for the day and evening shifts. We will again have the Country Store, Stitchery/Crafts Booth and the Lunch Counter. Please see or call Garnet Stern (925-7298), Mildred Siekmann (925-7050) or Sharon Pfeiffer (925-7604) if you are willing to donate food or work.

KEN MANNES – a local musician and occasional organist for us, will give an organ recital next Sunday, Sept. 25th, at 3:00 p.m. Additional information is on the flyer posted on the bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall.

THANK YOU – On behalf of Lutherans For Life, Pastor Nour (Redeemer, Armour), the participating disciples of our Lord’s Life Ministry and the Alpha Center, thank you for your hospitality, continued support and your prayers. For your gifts of time and talents, contributions of and for food that provides a comfortable yet celebratory atmosphere to rest, refuel their bodies and to see that their effort for our Lord’s Life Ministry is not simply acknowledged, but appreciated, may God bless the generous hearts and hands at St. Paul Lutheran Church. (s) Richard and Bobby Salis

HAVING A BAD DAY? – There is help for each day’s trials! An excellent new prayer book, entitled “Prayers for People Under Pressure” by Donald Deffner has numerous Christ-centered prayers designed to encourage you to prepare for and cope with stress and put it to rest. Each topical prayer is followed by Scriptural references to allow you, if you wish, to dig deeper into God’s Word regarding that topic. You may order your own copy online at www.nph.net or by calling 1-800-662-6022.

YOUTH GROUP OFFICERS for the coming year were elected at the Youth Group’s meeting last Sunday night. They are: Kaitlyn Stern, President; Stephanie Ruml, Vice-President; and Elizabeth Starner, Secretary-Treasurer.

THE LUTHERAN HOUR – Sept. 25, 2011 – Rev. Dr. Ken Klaus’ sermon theme, based on Matthew 21:28-32, will be “D.I.Y.” ‘Do it yourself’ is the main message of all religions except for one. Jesus invites all ‘do-it-yourselfers’ to instead trust in Him to do it all for you. The Lutheran Hour is broadcast every Sunday morning at 8:30 on 105.9 FM (KMIT) and at 9:30 on 570 AM (WNAX).

MAIN STREET LIVING – Sept. 25, 2011 – Kid’s Crossing finds Simon dealing with how to get to heaven, through faith in Jesus. The featured speaker is Rev. Don McKillop from Christ Lutheran Church in Winner, Redeemer Lutheran Church in Clearfield and Zion Lutheran Church in Hamil. The sermon theme is “Repent! And Live!” The hymns are “All People That on Earth Do Dwell,” “By Grace I Am Saved” and “Crown Him With Many Crowns.” Main Street Living may be seen each Sunday morning at 10:00 on KDLT-NBC Sioux Falls and may also be viewed on the web at www.mainstreetliving.com
