09-25-2011 Announcements

IN OUR DAILY PRAYERS this week we continue to pray for our members with cancer: Myrna Huber as she begins treatment, Herbert Huber as he recovers at home, Wayne Pfeiffer as he continues treatment and Doris Albrecht as she prepares to return for more treatment this week. We also hold up to God in prayer our shut-in members, our inactive members and those in our congregation who are in crisis and are asking for our prayers as well as at least two people in our lives who don’t know Christ. In addition, please pray for God’s will to be done and for wisdom to be given to the voters’ assembly of St. John Lutheran Church in Chester when they meet on October 9th to vote on whether or not to permanently close the church.

HAVING A BAD DAY? – There is help for each day’s trials! An excellent new prayer book, entitled “Prayers for People Under Pressure” by Donald Deffner has numerous Christ-centered prayers designed to encourage you to prepare for and cope with stress and put it to rest. Each topical prayer is followed by Scriptural references to allow you, if you wish, to dig deeper into God’s Word regarding that topic. You may order your own copy online at www.nph.net or by calling 1-800-662-6022.

THE LUTHERAN HOUR – Oct. 2, 2011 – Rev. Gregory Seltz’ sermon theme, based on Philippians 3:8-14, will be “The Power of a Persevering Faith in Jesus!” The Cross and Resurrection of Christ cuts through the fog and helps us see the certainty of what lies ahead for all who trust in Jesus. Such faith gives us the power to persevere and live boldly. The Lutheran Hour is broadcast every Sunday morning at 8:30 on 105.9 FM (KMIT) and at 9:30 on 570 AM (WNAX).

MAIN STREET LIVING – Oct. 2, 2011 – Kid’s Crossing find Simon and Bernice discussing the mustard seed and its relationship to faith. The featured speaker is Rev. Jerad Nies from St. John Lutheran Church in Gregory. The sermon theme is “Good For … Everything.” The hymns are “Take My Life and Let It Be,” “For the Fruit of His Creation” and “God Loved the World So That He Gave.” Main Street Living may be seen each Sunday morning at 10:00 on KDLT-NBC Sioux Falls and may also be viewed on the web at www.mainstreetliving.com. It is interpreted for the hearing impaired.
