HOLY COMMUNION is celebrated in
our worship service today. What a joy and privilege! In this
Sacrament our Lord gives unto us not only bread and wine, but also His very
body and blood to eat and drink. In this Sacrament He assures us that our
sins are forgiven and He strengthens our faith. To our guests who desire
to receive Holy Communion, we ask that you consider the following: If you
do not believe in Jesus as your Savior, do not believe in the Real Presence of
the Sacrament, or have never received instruction on how to prepare yourself
for Communion, you should refrain from receiving the Sacrament, but are
encouraged to come to the altar for a blessing, indicated by folding the arms
over the chest. We do this not to offend, but to honor the faith we hold
at St. Paul Lutheran. If you have any questions regarding communion,
please speak to the Pastor or an Elder before service begins.
IN YOUR PRAYERS - this week please remember those who are
recovering from surgery and illness, those in cancer treatment programs, our
shut-in and inactive members and at least 2 family members or friends in your
life who do not know Christ as they could, that they would accept the
invitation to come to Church with you to hear God's Word preached in its
purity, and see the Sacraments rightly administered.
MAIN STREET LIVING –May 20th 10:30-Worship Service-Rev. Terry Makelin of St Paul Lutheran Church in Freeman, SD brings us today’s message “Rejoicing in His Holy Consolation”. The message is based on Acts 2: 1-21.
PRINTED SERVICES AVAILABLE. For those who have difficulty handling or maneuvering the hymnal, or for those who just plain want to use them, we are currently printing some services out and putting them in the bulletin. So, if you find it difficult to heft the hymnal, or find it difficult because you only can use one hand, or are new to our services and don't know where to turn next (visitor?), you may ask the usher for one of these printed services, where the entire service is printed and laid out in order. HOSPITAL
AUXILIARY FUND DRIVE - It is a privilege to have the Freeman Regional
Health Services in our community. The Hospital Auxiliary
is having their annual fund drive during the month of May and are asking
for donations that will help to purchase needed equipment for the hospital,
nursing home, and clinic. There is a free will basket in the fellowship hall at
coffee hour during the month of May. Your participation in this fund
drive will be greatly appreciated.
GIFT FOR
PASTOR CHRISTOPHER. The Freeman circuit congregations would like to
thank God for His servant, Circuit Visitor Pastor Tomas Christopher, by sending
him to the Doxoogy program. Doxology is a program to aid pastors, their
wives, and congregation leaders, in the care of souls. I have gone
through this Doxology program with former congregations and it is a great gift
to give anyone (I wish I would have thought of it). In fact, I will be
encouraging you to come with me sometime to partake in the program, I think
your leaders would benefit by it greatly. Anyways, If you would like to
aid in this gift, we will have a free-will basket set in the fellowship hall,
or you may give it directly to Leanne before May 15th. Please make checks
out to St. Paul, but put "Freeman Circuit #6"
in the memo line, and we will know what it is for. Thanks in advance. -
Pastor
