IN OUR DAILY PRAYERS please remember Clara Baer who continues to recuperate in the Freeman Hospital, Myron Schaffer who is back in the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls for additional leg surgery, those in cancer treatment programs as well as our shut-in and inactive members, and at least 2 family members or friends in your life who do not yet know Christ.

THE LORD’S SUPPER at St. Paul Lutheran Church is administered in accordance with the Holy Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions. It is celebrated in the confidence that we receive – in, with and under the consecrated bread and wine – our Savior’s true Body and Blood for the forgiveness of our sins. All who commune at this altar are making this public confession of the faith that we believe and teach as is written in the Holy Scriptures. If you are not a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and yet desire to receive the Sacrament, please speak with the Pastor before the worship service.

MIDWEEK ADVENT SERVICES – We will gather at 7:00 p.m. on Dec. 11th and Dec. 18th for worship. At 5:45 p.m. (before each Wednesday’s service) we will also provide a soup and sandwich supper for all who wish to get together for a light meal. The theme for this year’s Advent services is “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel.” Please plan to join us and please bring a friend or relative to share in this opportunity for worship and fellowship!

DECEMBER 22 is the date set for our choir cantata. This year's selection is "A Festive Celebration of Christmas Joy". Please join us and bring your friends as we present this selection of traditional songs and narration.

COOKBOOKS make great Christmas gifts. We will again be selling them after church on a couple Sundays in Dec. (8th and 15th). If you need any before, or after that, contact Diane Schnabel, LaNae Harberts or Kristi Dannenbring. Kairos also has them available during the week.

REMINDER: All money that is put into special envelopes (Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.) is designated as missions. Regular Sunday envelopes have two parts. One side is for general fund and the other side is for missions. If you want your offering to go to something other than general fund or missions, please write a note on the outside of your envelope. Usually, the loose plate offerings go into the general fund. It was voted on at the last quarterly meeting to designate loose plate offerings, from Thanksgiving through the end of the year, to go to the local food pantry. - The Board of Finance

TIS THE SEASON: The BOE once again is doing our Mission Mitten Tree. We are collecting blankets or warm outdoor clothing - scarves, mittens, hats, boots, coats anything that the congregation would like to donate to help those in need. Thank you, GOD Bless You this Christmas and your giving.

LADIES AID CHRISTMAS PROJECT is Main Street Living. If anyone is interested in contributing, there will be a basket at the kitchen window for several Sundays. Funds will be matched by the Ladies Aid. Thank you!

MAIN STREET LIVING – Dec. 1st – Kid’s Crossing introduces the Christmas season with the program “Christmas Is.” The featured speaker will be Rev. Chris Asher from Resurrection Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. His sermon theme will be “It’s Time to Get Up.” The program is interpreted for the hearing impaired.

LADIES AID will meet for their Christmas meeting on Dec. 5th at 7:00 p.m. with Bible Study followed by a short business meeting. Members are asked to bring a Christmas goodie to share for lunch. MAIN STREET LIVING – Nov. 24th – Kid’s Crossing looks at how trusting in God can help us face difficult situations. The featured speaker will be Rev. Garen Pay from Pease Lutheran Church in Alcester. His sermon them will be “Promises For Sinners.” The program is interpreted for the hearing impaired.

WE WILL BE DECORATING the church for Christmas on Friday, Nov. 29th at 6:00. Volunteers are needed and will be greatly appreciated! There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board. Thank you in advance for helping to get your church ready for Christmas!

CHRISTMAS CANTATA – It’s that time again! The St Paul Senior Choir is starting rehearsals for our Christmas Cantata. We are looking for some additional members – sopranos, altos, tenors and basses would be warmly welcomed! Come join us on Sunday mornings for practice from 11:30 to 12:30. We meet in the choir loft as we prepare the cantata to be performed in December here at St Paul. Come join us as we raise our voices in joyous praise to our Lord and Savior. Hosannas forever!
THE SUNDAY SCHOOL CHILDREN will again be performing the Christmas Eve service this year. We ask that you e-mail Amber at ambersayler@hotmail.com or Kristi at kedfuntalk@hotmail.com to let them know if your child/children will be participating. THE BOARD OF ED will be showing a movie TODAY Sunday October 27th at 4:00 that is called 25 Hill. Plot- 12 year-old Trey Caldwell (Nathan Gamble) is shattered when his soldier father is killed in Afghanistan, leaving a hole in the boy’s life – and an unfinished Soap Box Derby car in the garage. A final gift from his dad, the car is a constant reminder of all that could have been. But when Trey meets Roy Gibbs (Corbin Bernsen), a grizzled Fire Chief devastated by the loss of his firefighter son on 9/11, a new relationship forms and old wounds finally begin to heal. As the unlikely team works to complete the Soap Box car and train for the upcoming Derby, they’ll learn that life isn’t about the starting line or checkered flag – it’s about having the courage to make the incredible journey of faith in between. Please join us, we will be serving popcorn.

QUARTERLY VOTERS’ MEETING NOTICE – Our Fall voters’ meeting will be held today in the Fellowship Hall right after the worship service.

PLAN TO ATTEND THE BAZAAR ON NOVEMBER 7TH FROM 10:30 A.M. TO 7:00 P.M. We will again have a Country Store, Stitchery/Craft Booth and the Lunch Counter. We still need a few volunteers to help us during the day and evening shifts, please let us know if you are willing to help either in the kitchen, waitress or as a cashier. Thanks to all of you that have volunteered to work and/or bring food, this is greatly appreciated. The food list and the work schedule are posted on the bulletin board in the fellowship hall and on the refrigerator in the kitchen.

BAZAAR SET-UP: We will be setting up for the Bazaar and cleaning the kitchen on Sunday, Nov. 3rd starting at 1 p.m. We would appreciate if you would come and help us with this project. Also, please check the kitchen to see if any of the containers, bowls, cake pans or pie plates are yours; we seem to have items that have been left from funerals or potlucks that need to be returned to their rightful owners. Thank you.

COOKBOOKS: We have heard a lot of great things about our church's wonderful cookbook. Unfortunately there is always a few mistakes with a project like this. We would like to keep track of any errors that you may come across that will affect the outcome of a recipe. There is an orange notebook on top of the microwave in the kitchen and we ask that you write down any errors that you may find. You may also want to double check on the recipe(s) you put in. Thanks for your help on this.

BY-LAW AMENDMENTS – Notice #2 – The Church Council is proposing to change By-Law V(4) – Election of Officers on Page 14 of our Amended Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws dated July 16, 1995. The proposal is to change the Board of Finance to 3 members (from the current 5 member requirement) and to change the term of office for each member to 3 years (from the current 5 year requirement). These changes are proposed to become effective October 31, 2013. If you have any comments or suggestions, please contact Randy Koerner.

THE SAMARITAN GROUP is making plans to send our military people a care package. If you have anyone in the military that you would like to receive a package, please give Diane Schnabel their name and address. The package will go out about the 2nd week of November. Thank you.

MAIN STREET LIVING – Oct. 13^th – Kid’s Crossing looks at how death in this life brings us to life in heaven. The featured speaker will be Rev. Paul Pater from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Howard. His sermon theme will be “Give Thanks.”

cookbook potluck – We are excited to have a Cookbook Potluck on Sunday, October 20^th. Prepare your dish or another from the cookbook and bring it for a congregational meal on Sunday, October 20^th and discover all the delicious recipes that can be found in The St. Paul Lutheran Cookbook!

THE BAZAAR COMMITTEE – has started making plans for the November 7th event, which will run from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Food donations are needed for chicken noodle soup, vegetable soup, chili soup, chicken sandwich meat, salads, pies, pickles, crackers & coffee. We will also need workers for the day and evening shifts. We will again have the Country Store, Stitchery/Craft Booth, and the Lunch Counter. the cookbooks have arrived! – Sales to St. Paul congregational members will begin after church on October 13^th and will continue until the end of October. The books will be selling for $20.00 each. 10-06-2013 Announcements

Main Street Living – Oct. 6^th – Kid’s Crossing learns to grow strong in the Lord through prayer. The featured speaker is Rev. Greg Lehr from Zion Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. His sermon theme will be “You Are My Witnesses.” The program is interpreted for the hearing impaired.

LARGE-PRINT HYMNALS – If anyone desires to use a large-print hymnal, we will make available as many as we need. Just let any of the ushers know. Thanks.

midweek school snacks – There is a Fall Semester sign-up sheet on the bulletin board for those who wish to donate snacks for our Midweek School and Confirmation Class students. If you are planning to provide snacks, please choose your preferred dates early so that we have time to cover the remaining open dates. Thanks!

09-15-2013 Announcements

IN OUR DAILY PRAYERS this week please pray for those who are recovering from surgery and illness, and those in cancer treatment programs as well as our shut-in and inactive members, and at least 2 family members or friends in your life who do not yet know Christ.

MAIN STREET LIVING – Sept. 15^th – Kid’s Crossing shows us that wisdom helps in making the right decisions in our life. The featured speaker is Rev. Scott Spiehs from St. John Lutheran Church in Wolsey. His sermon theme will be “Jesus Christ Saves Sinners.” The program is interpreted for the hearing impaired.

PORTALS OF PRAYER – In addition to the standard pocket-size edition and the full-size, large print edition, Portals of Prayer now has available a digest-size edition. Both the size of the booklet and the size of the font are in between the other two editions – that is, the booklet and the font in the digest size are larger than the pocket-size edition and are smaller than the large print edition. If you would like to receive the new digest-size booklet each quarter (or for one quarter as a trial period), please let the pastor know.

HIP HIP HORRAY!! Today is the first day of Sunday School. Sunday school will be held upstairs, after church. There will be beverages in classrooms, and the students may bring their snacks to the classroom.

OCTOBER 27TH will be Movie Matinee Day 4 PM in church fellowship hall- Please plan on coming for fellowship and great family entertainment.

NOVEMBER 24TH will be Sunday School Class Dress Day: We are asking the students and teachers to show their class spirit by dressing by color; PreK-1st grade: Green 2-3rd grade: Blue 4-6th grade: Red 7-8th grade: Orange

ALL STUDENTS IN GRADES 7 – 12 are invited to attend the first Mentor-Mentee meeting of the year to be held on Sunday, September 15^th at 7:00 P.M. This is our kick-off meeting for the fall. Come and see what we are about and join in on the fun and fellowship with the mentoring teams at St. Paul Lutheran. You are also encouraged to join the St. Paul Lutheran Mentor/Mentee Group on Facebook to keep posted about our happenings and meetings. Come share the love of God with others while having fun.

THE BAZAAR COMMITTEE – has started making plans for the November 7th event, which will run from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Food donations are needed for chicken noodle soup, vegetable soup, chili soup, chicken sandwich meat, tavern, salads, pies, cake, pickles, crackers & coffee. We will also need workers for the day and evening shifts. We will again have the Country Store, Stitchery/Craft Booth, and the Lunch Counter. 09/01/2013 Announcements

IN YOUR DAILY PRAYERS this week please remember those who are recovering from surgery and illness, Myron Schaffer who has been released from the VA hospital, those in cancer treatment programs as well as our shut-in and inactive members, and at least 2 family members or friends in your life who do not yet know Christ.

LADIES AID will meet on September 5th at 7:00 p, with Cindy Hofer as Hostess. We will be starting a new Bible Study, followed by the business meeting. Sharon Buechler is on Altar Guild for September and Darlene Schrag is Visiting Helper. Coffee committee for September 1st is Lee Lagendyk, Sharon Pfeiffer and Barb Salis.

WEEKLY CHOIR PRACTICE will resume on Sept. 15^th 11:30. Everyone invited to join. Please contact Jane at 925-7069 as soon as possible and let her know if you want to be a part of our choir. No prior choir experience is necessary! Newcomers are always welcome to help us lift our voices and give God all the glory!

NEXT SUNDAY IS RALLY DAY POTLUCK: The Board of Ed would like to invite the congregation to a Rally Day Potluck. We will be preparing Brauts and Hot dogs and are asking the congregation to bring a side dish or dessert. We are planning for a great SS year and are hoping to see you all there.

ROTH - THOMAS WEDDING – On Saturday, Sept. 7^th, Elliot Thomas and Christa Roth will enter the holy estate of matrimony according to God’s Word. They desire our prayers so that they may begin their marriage in God’s Name and with His blessing. We thank our Lord for creating the institution of marriage and ask God to bless this couple with peace and love. May they be faithful in service to our Lord and reflect His love by showing love to and for each other.

INSTALLATION OF TEACHERS – Our Sunday School and Midweek School teachers will be installed during next week’s worship service.
