REV. TROESTER’s RETIREMENT – After 32 years of service in the Office of the Holy Ministry, Pastor Jerry Troester is retiring.  The congregation of Zion Lutheran Church in Mitchell cordially invites everyone to their open house reception for him this afternoon from 2:00 until 4:00.

LADIES AID will not meet in July.  Coffee Hour Committee for July 5th is Susan Borglum, Joan Dreessen and Millie Gunderson.  On Altar for July is Wyona Hofer and Visiting Helper is Phyllis Knittel.

BOE - we will be showing interested people, after church on June 28, how to make  paper rocks and snowflakes, at home. The snowflakes and rocks will be used for our VBS program- Everest next month. DISTRICT PRESIDENT INSTALLATION – Rev. Scott Sailer will be installed as 14^th President of the SD District of the LCMS this afternoon at 5:00 at Faith Lutheran Church (601 N Cliff Ave., Sioux Falls).  Everyone is invited to attend.

THE BOE is asking that parishioners please save large brown paper bags and newspapers during June.  They will be used for making  VBS decorations.  Please put them in the tote  provided in the fellowship hall.

MISSION TRIP – On June 19^th I will leave for Akiachak, Alaska and help lead a Bible camp and basketball camp in that village.  I want to thank you again for the overwhelming support and donations you have given our mission team.  We are eager to spend time with the people of Akiachak and to spread God’s love and word with those we encounter.  Please keep us in your prayers while we travel and work with the people of Akiachak.  (s) Carly Fritz and the St. John’s mission team

FUNERAL SERVICE – The funeral service for Bobbi Salis will be held on Friday, June 5^th at 7:00 p.m.  Coffee and light refreshments will be available beginning at 6:00 as well as after the service.  Everyone is welcome to attend the service and the fellowship times.  Please keep the family in your prayers.  Thanks!

Delmont Relief Fund – The church building and parsonage of Zion Lutheran Church in Delmont were destroyed by a tornado on Sunday, May 10^th.  In addition, the homes of 5 of Zion’s families were either destroyed or damaged by the storm.  Miraculously, no lives were lost.  Rather than sending donations directly to Zion, a fund has been established at The South Dakota District Office to receive donations to assist with relief efforts.  Donations should be sent to:

Dr. Vern Schindler (son-in-law of Pauline Walz) and his family in your prayers for his open heart surgery and his recovery.  We also pray for all others who are recovering from surgery and illness, those in cancer treatment programs, our shut-in and inactive members, and at least 2 family members or friends in your life who do not yet know Christ.

baccalaureate SERVICE INVITATION – Everyone is invited to the 2015 Freeman Community Baccalaureate Service to be held at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13^th in the Community Center.  This worship service offers thanksgiving and seeks God’s blessings for the graduating seniors from Freeman’s 2 high schools.  The baccalaureate service is being arranged by the Freeman Ministerial Association.

LWML will meet Thursday the 14th at 2:00pm at the church. Pastor will lead us in Bible Study and Lee will provide lunch.

HOSPICE MEMORIAL SERVICE – Freeman Sanford Hospice will be hosting their annual memorial service on May 17^th at 4:00 at the Arboretum Visitors Center.  The service is open to anyone who has experienced the death of a loved one in the last year.  Registration is not required.  For more information please call LaVonne Brockmueller at 925-2120.

MAIN STREET LIVING – April 26^th – The featured speaker is Rev. Don McKillop of Christ Lutheran Church in Winner and Zion Lutheran Church in Hamill.  The program is interpreted for the hearing impaired.

PRESIDENT SATTGAST’S FAREWELL PROGRAM – After 35 years in the Office of the Holy Ministry (32 years were in SD), District President Dale Sattgast is retiring.  On May 31^st there will be a worship service at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron followed by a meal and program.  Please see the notice on the bulletin board for additional information, including RSVP dates and contact information.

The 60^th CONVENTION of the SD District of the LCMS was held this last week.  Following are the convention highlights:

LCMS President Harrison was the presenter.

Rev. Scott Sailer was elected District President

Rev. Gene Bauman was elected 1^st V.P.

Rev. Scott Spiehs was elected 2^nd V.P.

Rev. Samuel Bobby was elected District Secretary.

Jeff Siekmann was re-elected District Treasurer.

Rev. Dale Sattgast was thanked and given an award for his years of service to the District.

Amy Kashenov was given an award for her 20 years of service in Kazakhstan and Russia.

      Rev. Alan Ludwig (serving in Siberia) will be the next District-supported missionary.

 LAWN MOWING - The Albrecht family has decided not to pursue the mowing duties at the church and parsonage.  St Paul's would like to thank the Albrecht family for their years of service mowing and maintaining the church property. 

The trustees will still be accepting bids for the mowing duties from members until April 26 before the voter's meeting.  Contact Matt Rigo at (605) 366-7476.  Please leave a message if no answer
