AS WE TWEAK THE NEW SOUND SYSTEM to help with hearing Christ's Holy Word, please remember we have available Large Print Services to help with seeing His Word, Worship/Devotion Notes to help with meditating on His Word, and smaller Printed Services to help with following along with the liturgy of His Word (without the hymnal). Please let the office know if we run short and need to print more each time

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS to help with flowers on the Altar, if you are willing to furnish flowers, put them on the Altar and then remove them after the service please sign the sheet on the bulletin board in the fellowship hall.
 
WE ALSO NEED A FEW VOLUNTEERS to go and visit with our members that are at the Salem Home for the Aged, the Nursing Home and also some that are still in their own homes but unable to be out and about anymore. If you are willing to be a Visiting Helper, please sign the sheet on the bulletin board. Thank you.
 

LENTEN MEALS will be served before midweek services from 6:00 - 6:45p.m starting on March 4th, and continue on March 11th, 18th, 25th and April 1. Freewill donation will go to the Youth Group and a menu will be posted on the bulletin board.

GROWN-UP BIBLE BOWL will be meeting again at Overtime in Mitchell on March 8 at 6:00. The topic for our next competition will be the book of Judges. Everyone is welcome to attend either to watch or compete (teams are picked by random draw from all who wish to compete that evening) . . . and Overtime has great burgers! WHY COMMUNION TODAY  - The Sacrament of the Altar is being offered on Feast and Festival days (White and Red colors on the Altar) if the dates they are celebrated land on a Sunday, (regardless of whether they are on the 2nd and 3rd Sundays).

SOUTH EAST SD LUTHERANS FOR LIFE is $2600 short in their budget, largely in part because inclement weather prevented the bike for life event last year.  Please consider donating to them at PO Box 265Menno, SD 57045 so they may continue to support the Alpha Center in Sioux Falls providing ultrasounds for expecting mothers and fathers to see the gift of life in them. January 22nd was the anniversary of Roe vs Wade. In the 47 years since, over 61.5 million babies in the United States have been killed in voluntary pregnancy terminations (abortions)

As we keep on doing what He has here commanded us to do, we also want to keep on witnessing to the truth of His Word.  For this reason, the churches of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod promise to follow the historical Biblical practice of closed communion. Guests who desire to commune are kindly asked to speak with the Pastor before partaking, or cross their arms across the chest at the rail to receive a blessing.

2020 South Dakota Lutherans For Life Essay Contest Students grades 6-12 are invited to write a life-affirming essay based on the 2020 Conference theme: “From Invisible to Indispensable...”  and Conference bible verse: “On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable”. (1 Corinthians 12:22). See details on the LFL poster on the bulletin board.


A MONTHLY GROWN UP BIBLE BOWL COMPETITION takes place in Mitchell at 6:00 on the 1st Sunday of the month. Whether you want to compete in a match or not, everyone is welcome to attend and watch and see how many answers they know! The FIRST GAME is this MONDAY, January 13—Freeman at Mitchell.  GAME TIME is 7:30 pm.  If you want to CARPOOL, be at St. Paul/Freeman at 6:15 pm.  If you have not played dartball and are interested come to practice and check it out.  (Men, women, teenagers are welcome to participate.)  PLAYERS ARE NEEDED.  There is no cost and most of the games are on Monday nights.  For more information contact Rev. 2020 South Dakota Lutherans For Life Essay Contest Students grades 6-12 are invited to write a life-affirming essay based on the 2020 Conference theme: “From Invisible to Indispensable...”  and Conference bible verse: “On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable”. A MONTHLY GROWN UP BIBLE BOWL COMPETITION takes place in Mitchell at 6:00 on the 1st Sunday of the month. Whether you want to compete in a match or not, everyone is welcome to attend and watch and see how many answers they know! You need not have a full team since they usually pick teams randomly the night of the competition. Please contact Pastor Makelin for details

01-05-2020 Announcements

IN YOUR PRAYERS:  Pray this week for; Those who are recovering from surgery, hospitalization, or sudden illnesses (Sharon) and for those being treated for long term health issues or mobility issues (Orville, Connie, Bernice, Lavonne, Lorna, Melton, Millie, Ruth, Alice, Marlene, Norby, Wyona, Lucille, Bernita, Eldora, Harvey, Dianne, Marvin, Garnet, Arlene, Bonnie and Susan).

HOLY COMMUNION Today, St. Paul Lutheran Freeman will be participating in the intimate and blessed Sacrament of the Altar.  We respectfully ask that all guests speak to the pastor before coming to the rail, or cross your arms across your chest to receive a blessing. St. Paul members, please write the family name and number of family communing on the registration sheet so we can get an accurate count of how many to set for the Table of our Lord.

ATTENTION DARTBALL PLAYERS: The 2020 season will soon begin.  There will be a practice TODAY,  Jan. 5 and next Sunday, January 12th at 3:00 pm at St. Paul/Freeman.  If you have not played dartball and are interested come to practice and check it out.  PLAYERS ARE NEEDED.  (Men, Women, and teenagers are welcome to participate.) There is no cost.  For more information, contact Rev. LADIES AID & LWML will meet this Thursday January 9th at 2 p.m.  Due to conflicts the meeting was postponed from January 2nd to this Thursday.

MAIN STREET LIVING is the Christmas project for LADIES AID and LWML.  There will be a basket in the Fellowship Hall for a few Sundays if you are interested in supporting this program. Thank you for any contribution.  Funds will be matched by the Ladies Aid.  

THE MENTOR/MENTEE GROUP will be gathering personal hygiene items for the Food Pantry. There is a large box in the fellowship hall to put these items. The congregation is invited to help us with this project.  There is a list of suggested items on the bulletin board. Thank you!
