IN OUR DAILY PRAYERS this week we pray for Doris Albrecht whose cancer is no longer in remission; she will restart her chemo-therapy shortly. We also remember our other many members in cancer treatment, Betsy Knodel’s father (Rev. Neil Ahart) who recently had hip surgery, the family of Jerry Sprick (Pastor’s step-brother who died last week) in their mourning, all those who are sick as well as our shut-in and inactive members, and as always at least two people in your life who do not know Christ.
BEFORE LEAVING the sanctuary, please find one person whom you don’t know or don’t know very well, introduce yourself and have a brief chat with them.
CARE PACKAGES – If anyone would like a care pkg. sent to a family member, friend or loved one, please contact Diane Schnabel or Penny Smidt. The Samaritan Group would like to get them mailed out in the next few weeks.
THE YOUTH GROUP will be going tubing in Sioux Falls this afternoon and then to the Pizza Ranch for supper. Those who are going, please meet at the church at 1:00.
MIDWEEK LENTEN SERVICES – The theme for this year’s Lenten season will be “The Christian and Cross-Bearing” in which we will see what “cross-bearing” means and doesn’t mean, how the crosses we bear in our lives are related to our suffering (if at all), the attitude we should have about the crosses we have to bear, the testing of our faith, etc. Soup and sandwich suppers will start at 5:45 and worship services will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Wed., Mar. 7 “The Right Attitude Toward Bearing the Cross”
Wed., Mar. 14 “The Purpose of Bearing the Cross”
Wed., Mar. 21 “The Cross and Sin”
Wed., Mar. 28 “The Strength to Bear the Cross”
A MIDWEEK SOUP AND SANDWICH SUPPER schedule of volunteers has been posted on the bulletin board. Thank you to all who are offering your time and expertise to provide us with an evening meal!
LWML will meet March 8th, at 2:00 p.m. Susan will present the topic and Julie will provide the lunch.
THE LUTHERAN WITNESS subscription update: If you would like to continue to receive The Lutheran Witness (or to begin receiving it), please sign up on the bulletin board. If we do not see your name on the list, we will assume that you do not wish to receive it. Thank you! (s) Lisa and Aleta
MAIN STREET LIVING – March 11 – Kid’s Crossing has a “little talk with God” as we learn to pray. The featured speaker is Rev. David Gunderson from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Yankton. The sermon theme is “Who Is the Fool?” The hymns are “Lift High the Cross”, “In the Cross of Christ I Glory” & “When I Survey Wondrous Cross.” The Main Street Living Choir will provide the hymns. MSL may be seen each Sunday morning at 10:00 on KDLT-NBC.
THE LUTHERAN HOUR – March 11 – “Called By God To Boast In Him” will be the theme for Rev. Gregory Seltz’ sermon. Learn how to boast, not about ourselves, but of our God Who loves us and the world in which we live. (I Cor. 1:26-31) The Lutheran Hour is broadcast every Sunday morning at 8:30 on 105.9 FM (KMIT) and at 9:30 on 570 AM (WNAX).
WE STILL DO NOT HAVE baptismal dates on 32 of our members nor confirmation dates on 21 of our members. We are trying diligently to see that our recordkeeping is both complete and accurate so if you are among those whom the Pastor has contacted about these missing dates, unknown confirmation verses, unknown wedding anniversary dates, etc., would you please make a concerted effort in the coming days to track down this information and get it to the Pastor? Perhaps you can call the church in which these events took place or perhaps this would be a good reason to call your Mom! Your help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
