IN OUR DAILY PRAYERS this week we pray for Doris Albrecht (in Sanford Hospital), Bernice Graber and Wyona Hofer (in McKennan Hospital), our church members, friends and family in cancer treatment, those who are sick as well as our shut-in and inactive members, and as always at least two people in your life who do not know Christ.
BEFORE LEAVING the sanctuary, please find one person whom you don’t know or don’t know very well, introduce yourself and have a brief chat with them.
THE LUTHERAN DIGEST (Spring issue) has arrived and is on the vertical rack in the library.
CARE PACKAGES – If anyone would like a care pkg. sent to a family member, friend or loved one, please contact Diane Schnabel or Penny Smidt. The Samaritan Group would like to get them mailed out in the next few weeks.
SUNDAY SCHOOL FAMILIES / TEACHERS: To help minimize spills and messes between the Fellowship Hall and the Sunday school rooms, it was recommended to have a beverage pitcher & cups in each Sunday school room, instead of having the children carrying drinks up the stairs. The children are still welcome to bring their plate of goodies up to the rooms, if they feel too rushed to eat in fellowship hall. The Board of Education will have the pitchers in place before each SS hour. We will do a trial run & if it works we will consider this on a permanent basis. Thank You. (s) The Board of Education
A MIDWEEK SOUP AND SANDWICH SUPPER schedule of volunteers has been posted on the bulletin board. Thank you to all who are offering your time and expertise to provide us with an evening meal!
MIDWEEK LENTEN SERVICES – The theme for this year’s Lenten season is “The Christian and Cross-Bearing” in which we will see what “cross-bearing” means and doesn’t mean, how the crosses we bear in our lives are related to our suffering (if at all), the attitude we should have about the crosses we have to bear, the testing of our faith, etc. Soup and sandwich suppers will start at 5:45 and worship services will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Wed., Mar. 14 “The Purpose of Bearing the Cross”
Wed., Mar. 21 “The Cross and Sin”
Wed., Mar. 28 “The Strength to Bear the Cross”
MAIN STREET LIVING –March 18, 2012– Kid’s Crossing will look at John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son.”
The featured speaker is Rev. Aaron Asmus from Memorial Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD. The sermon theme is “An Ugly Hanging – A Beautiful Look.” The hymns are” Chief of Sinners Though I Be;” “When I Survey The Wondrous Cross;” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” The Main Street Living Choir will provide the hymns. MSL may be seen each Sunday morning at 10:00 on KDLT-NBC.
THE LUTHERAN HOUR –March 18, 2012--The sermon theme is "Good News for Religious People Too?" by Lutheran Hour Speaker Rev. Gregory Seltz. The Bible speaks about grace for sinners, but even the so-called "good people" need God's grace and mercy, too (John 3:1-16). The Lutheran Hour is broadcast every Sunday morning at 8:30 on 105.9 FM (KMIT) and at 9:30 on 570 AM (WNAX).
WE STILL DO NOT HAVE baptismal dates on 30 of our members nor confirmation dates on 20 of our members. We are trying diligently to see that our recordkeeping is both complete and accurate so if you are among those whom the Pastor has contacted about these missing dates, unknown confirmation verses, unknown wedding anniversary dates, etc., would you please make a concerted effort in the coming days to track down this information and get it to the Pastor? Perhaps you can call the church in which these events took place or perhaps this would be a good reason to call your mom! Your help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
