DELMAR
LIPELT ESTATE –
Just a note to clear up any uncertainties with regard to the Estate of Delmar Lipelt
of which SPLC is a beneficiary … Gary Pfeiffer was correct (as expected
and as we are used to!!) in his presentation to last week’s voters
assembly. To briefly reiterate and
expand on Gary’s comments – Delmar Ray Lipelt, who was a single man with no
children, died on July 5, 2013. He had
previously created a living trust. Upon
his death, the Delmar Lipelt Living Trust became irrevocable and Duane Lipelt
(Delmar’s brother) is now the successor trustee. Selected beneficiaries have decided to legally
challenge the trust’s distribution provisions and have asked to court to modify
the trust document accordingly. A
hearing on this matter has been scheduled for Feb. 11, 2014. Regardless of the hearing’s outcome and who
gets how much, before any distributions can be made Delmar’s estate has to be
probated which is expected to take about 6 months.
THE
SOUTH DAKOTA GIDEONS
have a short presentation for us after today’s worship service. Doug Gilbert, representing this Christian
Businessmen’s Association, will discuss the Gideons’ mission to distribute the
Bible around the world and what we can do to help them. We give praise and thanks to our God that so
many people have been given access to the Holy Scriptures because of the
Gideons. Some miscellaneous facts:
There are more than 300,000 Gideons
and Auxiliary members
Between 1999 and 2012 they
distributed over 942 million copies of the Bible
In 2013 more than 84 million copies
of the Bible were distributed
About 1.8 billion Bibles have been distributed
worldwide since 1908
More than 2 copies of God’s Word are
distributed every second
Over 1 million Bibles are
distributed every 4½ days
A freewill
offering for the Gideons’ work will also be accepted after today’s service.
OUR
2014 CHURCH OFFICERS
being installed today are Matt
Dannenbring
(Chairman of the Congregation), Cheri Knittel (Secretary), Lisa Andersen (Board
of Education), Blaine Saarie (Board of Elders), Mark Harberts (Board of
Evangelism), Jesse Thomas (Board of Trustees) and Bryan Olesen (Board of
Ushers). We thank God for raising up
these servants to work in His kingdom and pray that He will give them the
wisdom, strength and courage to fulfill the duties of their respective offices.
PLEASE
REMEMBER that the back
pews on each side of the church are reserved for families with small children
(as noted on the signs). If you do not
have small children, please courteously move forward so that our families who
do have children can sit where it will be easier to take care of them.
