IN OUR DAILY PRAYERS this week we remember Cheryl Walz and all others who are recovering from surgery or illness, those currently hospitalized, those in cancer treatment programs as well as our shut-in and inactive members, and at least 2 family members or friends in your life who do not yet know Christ.

THE LORD’S SUPPER at St. Paul Lutheran Church is administered in accordance with the Holy Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions.  It is celebrated in the confidence that we receive – in, with and under the consecrated bread and wine – our Savior’s true Body and Blood for the forgiveness of our sins.  All who commune at this altar are making this public confession of the faith that we believe and teach as is written in the Holy Scriptures.  If you are not a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and yet desire to receive the Sacrament, please speak with the Pastor before the worship service.

Main Street Living – Oct. 19^th – The featured speaker is Rev. Nathan Henschen of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Leola.  His sermon theme is “The Lord Reigns.”  The program is interpreted for the hearing impaired.

QUARTERLY VOTERS’ MEETING NOTICE – Our Fall voters’ meeting will be held next Sunday in the Fellowship Hall right after the worship service.

THRIVENT ANNUAL MEETING – We will be hosting this year’s annual meeting of Hutchinson County Chapter of Thrivent Insurance.  It will be held on Sunday, Nov. 9^th at 6:00.  A catered meal will be served.  Please RSVP by Nov. 3^rd to Romona Ulmer at 387-5451.

THE SAMARITAN GROUP will be sending out Solider Packages in November. If you have a family member, friend or someone you would like to receive a package please contact Diane Schnabel.

REFORMATION WORSHIP SERVICE – We will be hosting this year’s annual Reformation worship service for our circuit of 12 churches.  The service will be on Nov. 2^nd with a songfest beginning at 10:30 and the worship service beginning at 11:00 so as to allow the members of the other circuit churches to attend.  Following the service, we will offer a noon meal in our Fellowship Hall.  The cost will be $6.00; lunch tickets may be purchased from the Pastor.  At 2:00 Rev. Dr. Paul Maier (a professor of Ancient History at Western Michigan Univ. and a prolific author) will begin his presentation on the history of the Reformation.  Additional information has been posted on the bulletin board.

BAZAAR UPDATE: – Thanks to all that have volunteered to bring food & work at the Bazaar on November 6th. We have posted the food list on the refrigerator in the kitchen and on the bulletin board in the fellowship hall, if you would like to check what you have volunteered to bring. The work schedule is not complete yet, and we hope to have that ready & posted by next Sunday. A THANK YOU from both Main Street Living and from President Sattgast on behalf of the District’s Mercy Grant Fund has been given to all SD congregations.  Both of these entities are very grateful for all of the support that has been given to them which has, in turn, allowed them to serve the spiritual and physical needs of God’s people.  Thank you very much!

CHURCH CLOSING – The voters assembly of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Ipswich has voted to close their church.  Please keep the parish in your prayers as they prepare for their final worship service.

SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS needed for the “Adam and Eve” story unit.  This unit will run 10/12 through 11/9 (no Sunday School on 11/2).  Workshops are:  “storytelling”—2 weeks,  “science experiments”—3 weeks, “photography”—3 weeks, and “cooking”—3 weeks.  Please prayerfully consider sharing your talents with our young people for this 2-3 week commitment.  If you would like to help, please talk to Amber, Kristi, Maria, or Lisa.

  The Luncheon provided was supposed to be the primary function of the rest stop at St Paul and is always highly anticipated.  However, knowing that a festive atmosphere, warm and loving greetings, along with sincere expressions of appreciation for those participating in this event await their arrival are no doubt ingredients of anticipation as well.
  Loving hearts donated to the luncheon with food items, funds for needed items, along with prayers for the cyclists and weather conditions to have a safe and successful ride.  Loving hands gave of their talent and labor from  creating  a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere to preparing and serving the luncheon through the conclusion of clean-up.

PRAYERS FOR THE SD DISTRICT – These last 2 weeks you may have noticed that we included in our congregational prayers a prayer for 2 SD pastors and their congregations.  The Board of Elders and Pastor decided to use this format to follow the Bible’s admonition in Eph. 6:18 to pray for all of the saints.  We will continue to include 2 of our District’s pastors and their congregations each week until we have gone through the whole District roster.  We encourage each of you to also keep these fellow Christian brothers and sisters in your prayers.

BIBLES will be presented today to our 3^rd graders:  Riley Knittel, Dillon Podzimek and Emily Van Hecke.  May these students learn and cherish the Word of God and keep it in their hearts forever.

RALLY DAY POTLUCK: The ENTIRE CONGREGATION is invited to our annual Rally Day Potluck after church today.  We will be preparing Brats and Hot dogs and are asking the congregation to bring a side dish or dessert to share and enjoy great food and fellowship.  -Board of Ed

 

CONFIRMAND & PARENT MEETING – There will be a meeting for our confirmands and their parents after today’s worship service.

CONFIRMATION CLASSES will begin on Wed., Sept. 10^th at 4:00.

LWML will meet Thursday September 11th. a 7:00 p.m. at church. Pastor will lead Bible Study and Lee will serve lunch.

ADULT BIBLE STUDY CLASSES will resume next Sunday with Lesson 5 from the Book of I Thessalonians.  Everyone is welcome to join us for the study of God’s Word!  All materials will be provided.

THE 17^TH ANNUAL BIKE FOR LIFE rest stop luncheon will be hosted by St. Paul on Saturday, September 13.  As in the past several years, a sign up sheet has been posted on the bulletin board.  Your support, be it in time and talent, donations of or for food items, or prayers and well wishes for the cyclists riding for the Lord’s Llife Ministry, is now and always has been a valued asset in providing a comfortable place for them to rest, relax and recharge for the second half of their journey.

Additional riders and /or support vehicles are always welcome to join at St. Paul for all or part of the remaining half of the ride.  For questions contact Richard or Bobbi Salis.

THE LORD’S SUPPER at St. Paul Lutheran Church is administered in accordance with the Holy Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions.  It is celebrated in the confidence that we receive – in, with and under the consecrated bread and wine – our Savior’s true Body and Blood for the forgiveness of our sins.  All who commune at this altar are making this public confession of the faith that we believe and teach as is written in the Holy Scriptures.  If you are not a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and yet desire to receive the Sacrament, please speak with the Pastor before the worship service.

MAIN STREET LIVING – August 17^th – The featured speaker is Rev. Daniel Deardoff of Blessed Redeemer Lutheran Church in Brandon.  His sermon theme will be “Please Pass the Crumbs.”  The program is interpreted for the hearing impaired.

 MOVIE ON MAIN STREET – The Jackson Lee Vetch Memorial Fund Board is inviting everyone to a special, free showing of the film “Heaven in For Real” on August 10^th on Main Street in Freeman.  The festivities will begin at 7:30 p.m. with a presentation of the “Home Town Hero” Award at 8:00 and the movie presentation at about 8:45 p.m.  Please check the Freeman Courier for more details.

 LWML will meet Thursday August 14th at 7:00 p.m. Pastor will lead Bible Study. Wyona will serve lunch
