07-03-2011 Announcements

IN OUR DAILY PRAYERS this week we pray for all who are hospitalized and all who are receiving on-going treatment for their afflictions. Special prayers for healing are requested for Leland Zanter (Marlys Aman’s brother) who is seriously ill; may God continue to answer our prayers. We also pray for our shut-in members, inactive members and at least two people in our lives who don’t know Christ.

SONSURF BEACH BASH VBS – The dates of VBS are July 18th thru July 22nd. You can sign up by emailing Amber at ambersayler@hotmail.com or let Lisa, Amber or Cheri know. Also, please contact any of these 3 ladies if you would like to help out with our VBS this summer. This will be a fun-filled week of beach fun while learning lots about our Savior! Please watch for more details.

THE SAMARITAN GROUP will be hosting a potluck dinner for Pastor and Susan on July 17th at 11:30 a.m. as a belated welcome to our congregation. Please bring a hot dish or a salad; beverage and dessert will be provided. A pantry shower will be held in conjunction with the potluck.

PARENTS OF PRESCHOOL AGED CHILDREN – The Samaritan group has assembled activity bags for your child(ren) to use during the church service today. Please ask an usher at the rear of the church to assist you in getting one and please return it to the ushers on your way out of church.

DID YOU KNOW that the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ghana was established in 1958 by LCMS missionaries? Or that the membership of the ELCG now stands at 29,000? There are currently 9 LCMS missionaries helping the local pastors, evangelists and lay leaders serve more than 1,000 congregations and preaching stations in this West African country.

LUTHERAN HOUR – July 10, 2011 – Pastor Greg Seltz’ sermon theme, based on Isaiah 55:10-11, will be “God’s Word: The Power of God for Life.” The Lutheran Hour is broadcast every Sunday morning at 8:30 on 105.9 FM (KMIT) and at 9:30 on 570 AM (WNAX).

MAIN STREET LIVING – July 10, 2011 – Kids Crossing walks with Jesus as we witness the selection and the appointment of the 12 Apostles. The featured speaker is Rev. David Schwan from Zion Lutheran Church in Rapid City, SD. The sermon theme is “Call me Matthew!” The hymns are Alas and Did My Savior Bleed, Chief of Sinners Thou I Be, and Come Unto Me Ye Weary. The Main Street Living Choir will provide the hymns; the program is interpreted for the hearing impaired.

Main Street Living may be seen each Sunday morning on KDLT-NBC Sioux Falls at 10:00 a.m. Their mailing address is: Main Street Living, 1400 So. Duluth Ave., Sioux Falls, SD 57105. The program may be viewed on the web at www.mainstreetliving.com. Viewers, area churches and memorial gifts provide the support for the program.

SHORT-TERM MISSION OPPORTUNITIES – God has opened many doors for LCMS members to serve as missionaries and teachers. Several critical positions remain unfilled. In addition, there are more than 200 other 1-week to 2-year opportunities available to make the love of Christ known in Word and deed by serving within the LCMS World Missions organization. Perhaps one of these opportunities to share your God-given gifts is for you! Please see the Pastor for more information.

HELP SUPPLY VBS – If you are willing to donate supplies for our VBS program this year, please check the sign–up sheet on the bulletin board for what we need. Thank you.

THANK YOU! to all who remembered me on my 80th birthday with cards, verbal wishes and who joined me for cake during coffee hour. It made my day so very special. I truly feel blessed and may God continue to bless each of you as well. (s) Norbert Geidel
