MISSING FROM KITCHEN!  Two black silicone heat resistant mats approx. 15”x 23”. We had 5 mats to put under the roasters at the Bazaar (to protect our new countertops) and we can only locate 3 mats. For storage 1 mat was put into each roaster. If you have any idea where the 2 missing mats are please tell the Bazaar committee. Thank you.

THE BAZAAR COMMITTEE – is starting to make plans for the November 7^th event, which will run from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Food donations are needed for chicken noodle soup, vegetable soup, chili soup, chicken sandwich meat, tavern, salads, pies, cake, pickles, crackers & coffee. We will need workers for the day and evening shifts. We are planning on a Crafts/Stitchery/Baked items/Misc. booth and the Lunch Counter. Please see or call Penny Smidt (cell – 360-7335, home - 925-4292) Kelli Broders (cell – 661-4511,) or Sharon Pfeiffer(925-7604) if you are willing to donate food or work.

FLOOD HELP:  Orphan Grain Train (an RSO of the LCMS) is providing $100,000 in flood disaster assistance to residents of Lake County.  The money is earmarked for furnace replacement and drywall.  Rev. Welton and Rev. Clint Thorson (Our Savior, Madison) will be identifying members of their congregations who may need such assistance.  If you know Lake County residents who could use this kind of assistance, LCMS people or not, please let Rev. Welton know (cell phone – 307/221-1256).

Congregation or individuals who wish to contribute to Orphan Grain Train for disaster relief in South Dakota, visit their website (www.ogt.org) to make an on-line donation, indicating that the gift is for disaster response in South Dakota.   Or, you may send donations to Orphan Grain Train, P.O. Box 1466, Norfolk, NE 68701.  Such gifts will be above-and-beyond the monies noted above.
SAVE THE DATE FOR MUCKING: The South Dakota Lutheran Emergency Disaster Response will be helping to muck out, remove drywall, and do general cleanup on October 12th in the Madison and surrounding area.  Rubber boots, gloves, work clothes, and masks (against the mold) are required.  They will gather for assignments at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Madison and go from there. 
FLOOD RELIEF BUCKETS. If you would like to organize and make some flood relief buckets "muck kits" to bring with you (or to share with others who have been flooded), see the bulletin board for an idea of what to assemble and let me know!

For parents, these are meant to assist in your responsibility to teach your child the faith they have been baptized into. Having your child repeat the Catechism and "What does this mean" aloud, reading Scripture(s) and praying with your child is the second part of Christ's command on making a disciple...the teaching part. HOLY COMMUNION is celebrated in our worship service today.  What a joy and privilege!  In this Sacrament our Lord gives unto us not only bread and wine, but also His very body and blood to eat and drink.  In this Sacrament He assures us that our sins are forgiven and He strengthens our faith.  To our guests who desire to receive Holy Communion, we ask that you consider the following:  If you do not believe in Jesus as your Savior, do not believe in the Real Presence of the Sacrament, or have never received instruction on how to prepare yourself for Communion, you should refrain from receiving the Sacrament, but are encouraged to come to the altar for a blessing, indicated by folding the arms over the chest.  We do this not to offend, but to honor the faith we hold at St. Paul Lutheran.  If you have any questions regarding communion, please speak to the Pastor or an Elder before service begins.

THIS MONTH'S MISSION/MINISTRY OF THE MONTH IS LUTHERANS FOR LIFE, sponsors of the 22^nd Annual Bike for Life “Saving babies one mile at a time”. (see bulletin board).  Participants ride bicycles to raise money for Alpha Center’s Ultrasound Ministry.  This year's Bike for Life is next Saturday, September 14th, starting at a new starting location at 8:00am (7am breakfast) from Faith Lutheran Church, 201 W. Cherry St. Parkston (instead of Armour) and ending at the Alpha Center in Sioux Falls, with a stop at St. Paul Freeman around 11:30 for a light lunch and refreshments and again at Parker for snacks.  If you would like to help with serving the refreshments at St. Paul Freeman, contact Karissa Podzimek at 605-310-7526.  If you would like to participate as a fundraiser/bicyclist, contact Julie Hinckley at 605-770-9772, and if you would like to support SESD Lutherans For Life you may mail checks to P. THE BANQUET OPPORTUNITY is this week Wednesday Sept 4th. There is still time to sign up and help serve. Anyone wanting to car pool please meet at the church parking lot at 4pm. Those driving will leave by 4:10 to get to the Nordstrom-Johnson Building at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds in Sioux Falls.   They would like everyone there before 5:15.  Early Set Up Team please meet at church to car pool by 3:30. Remember casual clothes suggested and closed toed shoes are required. Thanks to everyone for helping, donating and those whom will be serving to bless the less fortunate.

Sadly Life issues are more than just abortion, which is huge by itself, but Lutherans for Life also deals with topics such as; Abortion Healing, Sexuality, Capital Punishment, Embryonic Adoption, Contraceptives/Abortifacients, Embryonic Stem Cell Research, End of Life, Eugenics, Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide, Fetal Tissue Research, Human Cloning, In Vitro Fertilization, Hospital Ethics, Marriage, Population Control, Therapeutic Incubation and more, though the lens of our Christian Worldview and the sanctity of Life.  The greater chapter for Lutherans for Life can be accessed online though many social media outlets, as well as  www.lutheransforlife.org or call 800-325-3040, or the local chapter at South Eastern South Dakota Lutherans For Life (SESDLFL), Joy Ellis, P. SPECIAL VOTERS MEETING will be held after worship services today to discuss (and vote?) to change worship times back to 9:30 (or not).  Here's the issue. Pastor Makelin has indicated that he is no longer willing to do vacancy coverage right away after St. Paul Freeman's services - especially during the school months, as he wanted to speak to people and teach during Sunday school/Fellowship hour (instead of rushing off).  Emmanuel Menno (who is currently worshiping at 10:30am) has offered to switch to 8:00am to accommodate Pastor Makelin still doing their vacancy coverage, but St. Paul Freeman would have to switch back to 9:30 to make it work.  If yes, and St. Paul switches back to 9:30am, then service times for both churches will change September 8th.  If St. Paul Freeman is staying at 9:00am, Emmanuel Menno will have to regroup and try something (or someone) else.

OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE: Our Congregation will be serving at the West Side Banquet in Sioux Falls on Wednesday Sept 4th. There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board if you are interested in helping. More details will be posted there. We will also be collecting items for The Banquets “Wish List”   Items include:
Regular coffee grounds, Large size containers of cinnamon, granulated garlic, season salts, white or black pepper, oregano, dry mustard and poultry seasoning,  new white flour sack towels, hotel size toiletries, and any feminine products.  They would also take clean plastic containers with lids for families to take leftovers (cottage cheese, sour cream, cool whip& butter tubs sizes)
Boxes and baskets for your donation will be available through the month of August in the fellowship hall.  On August 25 after the service we will take a free will offering for anyone wanting to give a monetary gift.

THE SIGNUP SHEET for the 30 week Apologetic study is located on the tables in the Fellowship hall, with a "student book" to look over.  Everyone is encouraged to come and learn/practice their duty as Christians, sharing and defending the Christian worldview (focused on Christ and His work for us) to your neighbor in a loving way.  There are two opportunities; The Men's group (6:00am, starting September 4th), Sunday after services (starting on Sunday September 8th), for confirmed youth, former Tuesday night study members, and everyone else. The cost for the book is $18 if you wish to give a free-will offering to the regular offering plate.

AUGUST MISSION/MINISTRY OF THE MONTH, MISSION CENTRAL supports many missionaries.  Once of which is Pastor Eric Stinnett, and his family.  Eric is a Theological educator at Makane Yesus Seminary in Addis Ababa Ethiopia where pastors are being trained to serve in Lutheran Churches there.  The Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus, which is the national Lutheran church in Ethiopia, now boasts approximately 8.3 million baptized members – more than the United States.  By comparison, the ELCA stood at just over 3.5 million member, the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod maintains a membership of 2.4 million, and the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod has another 400,000, plus some other smaller Lutheran bodies.  You may contact them at; Website: www.missioncentral.us/stinnett.

SPECIAL VOTERS MEETING meeting will be held after worship services August 25th to discuss (and vote?) to change worship times back to 9:30 (or not).  Here's the issue. Pastor Makelin has indicated that he is no longer willing to do vacancy coverage right away after St. Paul Freeman's services - especially during the school months, as he wanted to speak to people and teach during Sunday school/Fellowship hour (instead of rushing off).  Emmanuel Menno (who is currently worshiping at 10:30am) has offered to switch to 8:00am to accommodate Pastor Makelin still doing their vacancy coverage, but St. Paul Freeman would have to switch back to 9:30 to make it work.  If yes, and St. Paul switches back to 9:30am, then service times for both churches will change September 8th.  If St. Paul Freeman is staying at 9:00am, Emmanuel Menno will have to regroup and try something (or someone) else.

OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE: Our Congregation will be serving at the West Side Banquet in Sioux Falls on Wednesday Sept 4th. There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board if you are interested in helping. More details will be posted there. We will also be collecting items for The Banquets “Wish List”   Items include:
Regular coffee grounds, Large size containers of cinnamon, granulated garlic, season salts, white or black pepper, oregano, dry mustard and poultry seasoning,  new white flour sack towels, hotel size toiletries, and any feminine products.  They would also take clean plastic containers with lids for families to take leftovers (cottage cheese, sour cream, cool whip & butter tubs sizes)
Boxes and baskets for your donation will be available through the month of August in the fellowship hall.  On August 25 after the service we will take a free will offering for anyone wanting to give a monetary gift.

THE SIGNUP SHEET for the 30 week Apologetic study is located on the tables in the Fellowship hall, with a "student book" to look over.  Everyone is encouraged to come and learn/practice their duty as Christians, sharing and defending the Christian worldview (focused on Christ and His work for us) to your neighbor in a loving way.  There are two opportunities; The Men's group (6:00am, starting September 4th), Sunday after services (starting on Sunday September 8th), for confirmed youth, former Tuesday night study members, and everyone else. The cost for the book is $18 if you wish to give a free-will offering to the regular offering plate.

HELPING OUR HOME-BOUND NEIGHBOR by doing works of mercy.  As some may know, Freeman area transit has suspended weekend services and therefore our non-driving church goer does not have that opportunity to attend Word and Sacrament, but have to find their own rides.  While I serve by delivering His body and blood, and the ushers record the sermons, and Aleta records video...there is another way that you can help.  The transit company has discussed how volunteer drivers can use their vehicles to deliver those who want to go to services (and back).  These volunteer drivers would serve all Freeman area churches by using the transit company buses for Sunday services. A CDL or special licensing is not required, just a regular drivers license. The transit company will provide vehicles, do background checks, and hands-on training (reviewing passenger assistance, documentation and wheelchair secure-ment procedures) which will take about 2-3 hours.  If you would like to be a part of this mercy work opportunity, please give me a note or send an email to stpaulfreeman@gmail.com, so I can estimate interest. – Pastor

NEBRASKA FLOOD RELIEF UPDATE
What is the latest? While relief efforts have been in progress around Nebraska, the largest concentrated relief is happening in the Fremont area. ST. JOHN'S IN EMERY has decided to abandon and decommission its building, due to issues too many to cover.  For now, St. John's continues its presence in Emery worshiping at the funeral chapel on Main Street.  There will be a final decommissioning service at St.  John's on Sunday, August 18 at 3:30 with a reception and meal to follow. The saints at St. John's would like to cordially invite you and any members of your congregations who would like to attend. They ask that people RSVP for the meal by August 14 by contacting Pastor Christopher at 605-239-4754.

So on August 11th we will have The Bible, a Burger, and a Beer while we review chapters 26-50 of Genesis. Since Pastor Christopher is the Quizmaster for the evening he and Jane will be at Overtime by 5:15 to order and eat, so join us then if you can or come by 6:00 and listen to the questions while you enjoy a great burger or steak.
