THE SD GIDEONS wish to thank St. Paul Lutheran Church for inviting them to give their presentation after last week’s worship service. They enjoyed worshipping with us, talking with those whom they knew and meeting those whom they didn’t know! The freewill offering collected for Gideon International was $300.00. Thank you to all who donated. Lives will be changed and more copies of the Bible can be distributed because of those donations.

Businessmen’s Association, will discuss the Gideons’ mission to distribute the
Bible around the world and what we can do to help them. We give praise and thanks to our God that so
many people have been given access to the Holy Scriptures because of the

ANNUAL VOTERS’ MEETING NOTICE – Our annual voters’ meeting will be held today in the Fellowship Hall right after the worship service.
BERNICE CVRK’S ENTRANCE INTO GLORY – We pray for peace and comfort for the family of Bernice Cvrk whom God called home last Tuesday, Jan. 21st. We pray that God would comfort all who mourn with the hope of the glorious resurrection of the body and a happy reunion in heaven, and that He would sustain the family with the knowledge that all who remain faithful will be given the crown of eternal life and will be in our Lord’s presence forevermore. Bernice’s home-going service will be held tomorrow, Jan. 27th.

IN OUR DAILY PRAYERS we remember our hospitalized (Richard Salis and Myron Schaffer), Clara Baer who has been released into Oakview Nursing Home, newborn Riley Sandberg (granddaughter of Joan and Dean Dreessen) in the Des Moines Hospital NIC Unit for some premature birth issues, those in cancer treatment programs as well as our shut-in and inactive members, and at least 2 family members or friends in your life who do not yet know Christ.

ANNUAL REPORT – It’s that time of year to start working on the annual report. Please get your report to Denise Peterson or to Pastor as soon as you can. Thank you for your help in getting the reports done in a timely manner.

Our YOUTH GROUP has temporarily suspended all activities and meetings effective immediately because of a lack of interest and support by the majority of the youth. It really is neither right nor fair to the 3 or 4 youth and 2 sets of parents who show up for the activities and meetings, do all of the planning for future events, etc., and then have no one else ever participate in anything. We will consider restarting the Youth Group next Fall when other youth become eligible to participate.
COFFEE HOUR GROUP schedule is done and in the secretaries basket in the window sill in the kitchen. If you have picked one up please disregard the first one and pick up a revised one thank you.

LADIES AID had a successful Christmas Project this year which was to provide financial support for the Main Street Living television programming broadcasts. Donations received were $160; however, since this was a $-for-$ matching fund project, a check for $320 was sent to MSL. Thank you very much to all who helped make the project a success!

MAIN STREET LIVING – Dec. 29th – Kid’s Crossing: Watch as the Puzzle Club kids solve the Christmas mystery. The featured speaker will be Rev. Tom Christopher from St. Martin Lutheran Church in Alexandria, Trinity Lutheran in Spencer and St. John Lutheran in Emery. His sermon theme will be “Ever Full of Sap and Green.” The program is interpreted for the hearing impaired.
THE BOE INVITES YOU back to church @ 4 pm today for a movie matinee. We will be showing "Little Heroes": Ten year old Charley struggles with poverty and making friends. But she has a most loyal friend a person can ask for, a dog named Fuzz. In the midst of criticism and trials Charley and Fuzz make a perfect team to rise to the occasion. Come see a heartwarming tale of courage, sacrifice and friendship.
NEW YEAR’S EVE worship service will not be held this year. However, we still encourage everyone to do their personal evening devotions, remembering that no matter what personal difficulties we will face next year, no matter what decisions we will have to make and no matter the times of uncertainty or anxiety in our lives, Jesus Christ … “who is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Heb. 13:8) … will be there to strengthen us, help us, comfort us and guide us. Only God knows what 2014 will bring but whatever may happen, one thing remains the same: Jesus Christ, who is “our God, our help in ages past, our hope for years to come, our shelter from the stormy blast and our eternal home.” (LSB 733 Verse 1)

CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS in the church will be taken down on Friday, January 3rd, beginning at 6:00 pm. If you have the time, would you please help us get the decorations and Christmas trees put back into storage? Many hands will make light work! Thank you in advance for your assistance!

CHRISTMAS FUND – Through today, Dec. 29th, we are accepting freewill offerings to replenish our Christmas Fund. These monies will be used to replace or repair our Advent and Christmas decorations, as needed, as well as to purchase the Children’s Christmas Program gift
bag items. The offering basket is on a table in the Fellowship Hall.
REMINDER: All money that is put into special envelopes (Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.) is designated as missions. Regular Sunday envelopes have two parts. One side is for general fund and the other side is for missions. If you want your offering to go to something other than general fund or missions, please write a note on the outside
of your envelope. Usually, the loose plate offerings go into the general fund. It was voted on at the last quarterly meeting to designate loose plate offerings, from Thanksgiving through the end of the year, to go to the local food pantry. - The Board of Finance

DARTBALL PLAYERS are needed to play for St. Paul/Freeman against other LCMS churches in the area. Men, women, and teenagers are eligible to play. The season begins on JAN. 20, 2014 and runs through the first part of March. Regular season games are played on Monday evenings. (It is an enjoyable time with fellow Christians.) If you cannot play every week that is okay. There is a yellow sign-up sheet on the bulletin board and there is no cost. If you have questions, contact Tom Stolp (605-261-0751) or Rev. TIS THE SEASON: The BOE once again is doing our Mission Mitten Tree. We are collecting blankets or warm outdoor clothing - scarves, mittens, hats, boots, coats anything that the congregation would like to donate to help those in need. Thank you, GOD Bless You this Christmas and your giving.

HOLIDAY CHEER: This past Wednesday the Ladies Aid Visiting Committee delivered “Holiday Best Wishes” in the form of a personal visit, a Christmas card, and a bud vase containing a carnation & evergreens to the following church members. Clara Baer, Erna Bittner, Bernice Cvrk, Alice Fliginger, Bernice Graber, LaNae Harberts, Ella & Elsie Hein, Verna Herrboldt, Connie Hinckley, Myrna Huber, LaVonne Knittel, Ruth Koerner, Lorna Langle, Mahala Peterson, Christa Peterson, Lucille Rembold, Myron Schaffer, Helen Schamber, Chris Schenkel, Gary Schrag, Linda Stark, Pauline Walz, and Marge Wollmann. REMINDER: All money that is put into special envelopes (Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.) is designated as missions. Regular Sunday envelopes have two parts. One side is for general fund and the other side is for missions. If you want your offering to go to something other than general fund or missions, please write a note on the outside of your envelope. Usually, the loose plate offerings go into the general fund. It was voted on at the last quarterly meeting to designate loose plate offerings, from Thanksgiving through the end of the year, to go to the local food pantry. - The Board of Finance

HOLIDAY CHEER: This past Wednesday the Ladies Aid Visiting Committee delivered “Holiday Best Wishes” in the form of a personal visit, a Christmas card, and a bud vase containing a carnation & evergreens to the following church members. DARTBALL PLAYERS are needed to play for St. Paul/Freeman against other LCMS churches in the area. Men, women, and teenagers are eligible to play. The season begins on JAN. 20, 2014 and runs through the first part of March. Regular season games are played on Monday evenings. (It is an enjoyable time with fellow Christians.) If you cannot play every week that is okay. There is a yellow sign-up sheet on the bulletin board and there is no cost. If you have questions, contact Tom Stolp (605-261-0751) or Rev. MAIN STREET LIVING – Dec. 1st – Kid’s Crossing introduces the Christmas season with the program “Christmas Is.” The featured speaker will be Rev. Chris Asher from Resurrection Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. His sermon theme will be “It’s Time to Get Up.” The program is interpreted for the hearing impaired.
MIDWEEK ADVENT SERVICES have been scheduled for this year. We will gather at 7:00 p.m. on Dec. 4th, Dec. 11th and Dec. 18th for worship. At 5:45 p.m. (before each Wednesday’s service) we will also provide a soup and sandwich supper for all who wish to get together for a light meal. The theme for this year’s Advent services will be “Oh Come, Oh Come, Emmanuel.” Please plan to join us and please bring a friend or relative to share in this opportunity for worship and fellowship!
ADVENT DEVOTIONAL BOOKLETS (written by Lutheran Hour Ministries) were distributed after last week’s worship service. Additional copies are in the library.

WHO ARE OUR COLLEGE STUDENTS? - We are considering different ways to stay in touch with our members who are attending vocational schools and colleges. So that we can be sure that we know who these individuals are, would you please let the church office know (preferably by e-mail) the name, mailing address, e-mail address and cell phone number of anyone in your family who attending college or a vocational school. Thanks!
LADIES AID will meet for their Christmas meeting on Dec. 5th at 7:00 p.m. with Bible Study followed by a short business meeting. Members are asked to bring a Christmas goodie to share for lunch. Joan Dreessen is on Altar Guild for December. Coffee Hour committee for Dec. 1st is Ella and Elsie Hein, Cindy Hofer and Phyllis Knittel.

COOKBOOKS make great Christmas gifts. We will again be selling them after church on a couple Sundays in Dec. (8th and 15th). If you need any before, or after that, contact Diane Schnabel, LaNae Harberts or Kristi Dannenbring. Kairos also has them available during the week.
CALANDAR sorry about having the ladies aid serve all month, they will be doing the 1st Sunday of December. There is a corrected copy of the calendar on the bullion board and the calendar for the week will also have the correct people that will be serving lunch, ushering and acolyte. Sorry about the mistake
REMINDER: All money that is put into special envelopes (Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.) is designated as missions. Regular Sunday envelopes have two parts. One side is for general fund and the other side is for missions. If you want your offering to go to something other than general fund or missions, please write a note on the outside of your envelope. Usually, the loose plate offerings go into the general fund. It was voted on at the last quarterly meeting to designate loose plate offerings, from Thanksgiving through the end of the year, to go to the local food pantry. - The Board of Finance
TIS THE SEASON: The BOE once again is doing our Mission Mitten Tree. We are collecting blankets or warm outdoor clothing - scarves, mittens, hats, boots, coats anything that the congregation would like to donate to help those in need. Thank you, GOD Bless You this Christmas and your giving.
CONGRATULATIONS to the 2nd - 3rd grade class as well as the 4th- 6th grade class! Both of these classes had 100% participation of class color day!!
